Observer - The Poet in Me
Joyette Fabien wrote poetry in her youth. Not much of a talker, poetry became her primary response to life's ups and downs.
The Thinker; the Poet
I look down and I see
I’m a thinker
In this mechanical world
I sit here on its periphery
And I cringe at what I see within…
Everyone seems busy
Trying their best to outrace time
The machines, the gadgets, the clocks
They’re the indispensable triggers of the day
I peer closer
Into the world’s core
I see nothing, or something that looks
Like nothing. A huge chasm, dark within
I peer even closer
And I realize that this thing
This nothing that I see down there
Could probably be my grieving, aching heart
Yes, my sad heart
Bleeding for this misguided world
With all these selfish, mindless people
That are trying to run a race against time
I hear a deep sigh
Then a painful sob. Is it my heart crying
Then I sense an all-encompassing sadness
And realize I‘m not alone. I peer deeper into the darkness
I stretch out my arms
For there, also sitting on the periphery
Are many other burning, weeping hearts like mine
Filled with pity for all this death we see before us
Here we are; thinkers
Sitting on the edge of the world
We form a chain, one love; one aim
To smash the death that lies death before us
We, the thinkers
Of this world, have realized that
We are the world’s hope, our brothers’ keepers
We were born with a mission to change the world
Softly, gradually
We move inwards, deep into the core
Tightening the circle. Our combined lights
Cut through the darkness infusing new hope
We breathe life
A new day is dawning; a new world is coming
The thinkers we are, and we have the power
To awaken our brothers to a new way of living

Reflective Poems
- I Anonymous - A Poet Waiting to Emerge
Young poets need fostering and nurturing by others of their tribe. Without acceptance and encouragement, the creative talents might remain hidden, stifled and might eventually be lost. - Dreamer - Every Poet Is a Dreamer
Every poet is a dreamer. We see what the ordinary eye can't see. Often we are misunderstood and undervalued, but we believe in ourselves. Sometimes this has to be enough. - Everlasting Love - There is a Love That Never Dies; It Lives Within the Heart
Sometimes two people's paths cross and they connect in such a manner that it feels like they were meant for each other. At the same time, insurmountable obstacles can force them apart to find their separate destinies. - Reflections on Life - Crossroads
It is not easy to navigate through life when one is young. Even to discover one's self can be a huge challenge. Some people choose to walk life's road with friends, but many, like me, make the journey of self realization on their own and that is cer
