Nothing to Speak Of
The news makes me angry and sad
Is that really the world we live in?
We did it to ourselves, chasing all that gold
But in the end, darkness is all that showed
It seems every day it’s something new
It’s like it's someone’s job to make us afraid
How sad to be the one who wants us to run to him
There is nothing inside a man who cheats for a living
Wispy wheat grass, cardinals and shade
Tall oaks, a park bench and an orange rose
What more could I want except your love?
When it’s like that, the news is nothing to speak of
How far will a man walk to see the sky melt into a lake?
His whole life if that’s what it will take
Why live for dying when the breeze never ends
Take it on your own wing and forget fear and hate
In my heart I know how to sing
That’s enough to be what I want to be
I’ll listen to you anytime my love
The things that hurt you hurt me too
Wispy wheat grass, cardinals and shade
Tall oaks, a park bench and an orange rose
What more could I want except your love?
When it’s like that, the news is nothing to speak of
