Oluwatobiloba is an undergraduate of the University of Lagos and a lover of poetry
In an unlikely hamlet,
The pregnant virgin was delivered of her babe.
Her natal inn was a stable.
She laid her babe,
And wrapped him in swaddling fabric.
His bedding was hay!
Joy arrived the earth in camo.
And ding dong! Goes the Noel bell
The sapient heard it, they saw a star,
The king heard it, he sensed rivalry,
The shepherds heard it, they saw angels.
We heard it, we saw the cross.
It rang out last Christmas
It rings out every Christmas
It reverberates daily
If only you listen to your heart.
It resounds each day
If only your soul reckons
The joy the Noel bell brings.
It reverberates in the soul's stream
And thrills the woods of the flesh
Flattening the mount of sinfulness.
We now have candles,
Let us brighten the dark woods,
And keep ringing the Noel bell!!!
