Nobody Cries Nobody Grieves

You are already a butterfly
Floating, effortlessly, beyond worry
Because you fly in my deep green forest
Where there is no natural predator
Only the interruption of a stormy sky
From those who would make you hurry

We watched black and white pictures
Dancers trying to attract our eyes
It seems you’re not like that
What the air gives is the direction you receive

Being alone with you
Is a quiet place, an oblivious slow pace
Flying low over a four leaf clover
Then high over an electric wire
How did you get there, where it’s true
The love that never has to win the race

Confused by the silence within
We watched blue clouds and white skies
What was supposed to be real life
Was where nobody cries, nobody grieves
