Poem: No Ordinary Day

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

No ordinary day is a poem expressing the way a man tries to convince her holidays are only a way for companies to make money. But history has plagued us with these special days. A woman wants to feel like she has found her prince charming. Make her feel special, especially on Valentine's Day.

"How to Surprise Her with a Great Valentine's Day Gift" by Howcast

No Ordinary Day

It is just another day
a celebration for companies
to make money,
she heard him say.

As if to make her
her heart,
believe his way.

Businesses may cash the jackpot
playing upon our hearts,
taking advantage of certain moments,
but lest we remember
they're not responsible.

History plagues us with symbols from the past
like those childhood memories of Cinderella
which made us believe in a knight in shining armor.

Every little girl dreams
of finding her Romeo,
the one who holds the key to her heart.

As a mature woman,
she looks for her once-in-a-lifetime prince
to take her away,
for just a moment or two
from the reality
which is her life.

No perfection needed,
only geniune love,
where he displays his feelings
like no one else can,
because for her
this is no ordinary day.
