No Letter To Write

It’s the one we don’t want to write
To tell of how life goes on
No matter our purpose or fate
It is our ultimate failure
Unable to cope, we ignore it’s wake

We wander now, lagging thoughts
Trailing behind, trying to follow
Go it’s over there, inside the flower bed
Shells that someone will find
Don’t ask why, that’s just to where they fled

If my heart spoke to you plainly out loud
It would not say goodbye
We’re talking about angels now
There’s no letter to write
There’s already a word to which we bow

But whatever dies that we love most
Is just another point of view
We’re not alone, to spirits we now cleave
There’s no stone to roll aside
The miracle is what we’re asked to believe
