No Corner Walls

The rain doesn’t feel the same way
It falls like a memory I once knew
I ran through it then it was over
Like an old friend who no longer calls

Summers over, the sun’s important now
Night rushing, I face it’s remaining light
I let the shadows cover all my regrets
Upon them the shape of my back falls

I’m not looking for long lost dreams
I know where they are, I put them there
If everything has to live before it dies
Who came first, tell me if you recall

Walking the streets you’re not for sale
But smiling is the door to the way home
There’s no corner for your heart to retreat
If you willing to step outside your walls
