Never Talk Yourself Out of Your Greatness: A Rhyme to Inspire
Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.
Life is ten percent what you experience and ninety percent how you respond to it.
-- Dorothy M. Neddermeyer
Don't talk yourself out of your greatness
if all the things don't look favorable enough
with chemical crutches to induce sedateness
refusing to acknowledge life's call for going tough.
Accept your responsibility to choose
if you don't do it for yourself -- who will
life can hit us hard, but ignore the bruise
a need to act will stay after all tears you spill.
Spitefully and resolute grab life by the horns
do whatever it takes, not selling yourself short
whenever you want roses, count on some thorns
so treat yourself with dignity, and be the good sport.
Write words for your own birthday card
let it sound like a plan not empty wishes
don't drag a sore ass beaten and scarred
swimming upstream takes some alive fishes.
Accept the pain, even challenge for more
don't show your body it can intimidate you
because when it comes to that final score
you'll know you have done all that was due/
Nothing is stronger than a mind's resolve
so don't talk yourself out of your greatness
just go on doing everything that it may involve
not lulled into can'titis but with a spirit's alertness.
