Nelson's Song

My name is Nelson I’m spending the rest of my life in prison

My name is Nelson
I’m spending the rest of my life in prison
I was arrested for the murder
Of my precious mother

It happened in the last week in November
A Sunday, I could still remember
Mum and I had a fight
About the food I cooked that night

I swear, I didn’t raise my hands against her
But all I said was ‘I’m sorry ma’
Why? Because the food I cooked had no salt
But believe me, it wasn’t my fault

She shouted all over the place
And there was anger all over her face
I fell on my knees to beg
But she walked out on me straight to her bed

She slept and never woke up in the morning
Leaving me with tears and so much mourning
The doctor’s report showed that she ate poison
But can someone give me a good reason
Why I’d send my mum to her early grave
After all the happiness she gave

All I needed was just one person to believe me
But even my advocate deceived me
My mother is now late
And here I am accepting my fate.
