Those birds look so free! I'm jealous.

Nature's Freedom. A Regular Sonnet

Indigo moon, incandescence of Light,

Covers the shadow of darkness below.

Free as the soul of a Phoenix in flight,

The luminesce stars, enhances its glow.

Enclosed as embryos in dark cocoons,

Miracles emerge to fly like freed kites.

Colourful butterflies; glimmering moons,

All rise from the dark to give us Delight.

Plants; organisms, make use of the sun;

Synthesize foods from carbon dioxide.

Water is crucial and second to none,

In stains and chlorophyll, oxygen hides.

Nature’s freedom, like the birds soaring high,

Doing Love’s miracles, for you and I.

-Manatita, The Lantern Carrier, 11th September, 2021

Thank You, NHS and All Frontline Services

Heavenly Freedom: To all Those we Lost in the NHS and Frontline Services

They died for doing what they loved,

Honouring the essence and holiness, of the

Hippocratic Oath. We exalted them through

Eulogies, some shedding a stream of copious tears.

Yet fawns rejoiced; peach roses glimmered in the

Light of Spring. The white lilies blossomed; paid a

Standing ovation to their Hearts of sacrifice; the sweet

Intimacy of daffodils, whispered arias to their souls.

O Love! You prepared a rainbow of garlands for

Their arrival. On the Elysian lap of sleep, they

Travelled, into the Palaces of supernal grandeur.

The diamond wings of eternity beckoned,

Adorning their robes with the banner of victory,

Paying homage, at the feet of the Beloved One.

-Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 9th September, 2021.

Liberation or The Full Salvation of the Soul

Liberation. Extracts from my Poem, ‘Hope and Transformation.'

A light crosses my path, and I see a phoenix soaring

In the firmament, burning a trail in the perennial

Galaxy so intense, that my soul becomes transfixed.

Transformed, I gaze at the luminosity of heaven:

The nebulae, Orion, the shooting stars … the moon

Looks so beautiful! This is where Sage Vasishta’s wife

Resides. This incandescent star of bewildering beauty!

Now at nights, many brides and grooms, pay homage to

Her towering holiness, in order to have a progressive marriage.

I once said to my mother: “Mommy, mommy! “What

Is that there in the sky?” “The moon!” She smiled.

“The moon? I want to go to the sky and play with it!”

“You don’t have to go to the sky, my darling, one day

The moon itself, will come to you.” She smiled again.

So now I soar on the seeds of my mother’s vision,

Leaving my mortal coil behind, far, far, from this land

Of shadows! I’m a soul-bird, not a dream, and the

hope-seeds of the eternal grant me feathers, so I can fly.

Now I have no need for cobwebs; the effulgent dazzle

Of souls beneath me, is too powerful and hold my gaze, like

The Temple of the sun. I reach out to Jannah, (Paradise), as

The nightingale’s sing, my Heart shedding the tears of ceaseless Love.

1st April, 2021. By Manatita, The Lantern Carrier

A Thought-Provoking Look at Freedom

One man’s personal choice, maybe his

Brother’s demise. My strict adherence to

Amendments, may lead to another’s life on

A ventilator. Bodies will fade or pass away,

But why bury the Light of the Heart?

The realm of the soul is also free, yet

Love fills it with deeds of compassion.

Its depth of serenity sweetly unfurls,

To the wisdom-Light of the moon and stars.

I say that I have freedom to choose; yet

Closes the window, to the Light the sun

Offers. The way of the Heart responds,

When the voice of destiny calls its name.

No move is arbitrary, O Lantern. Entreat

The mercy of Surrender, to light up like flares,

The snow-white sanctum of Thy tabernacle,

To decode and avoid, the effects of wrong actions.

-Lantern Carrier. 9th September, 2021.

In Spirituality, those who came before us, tend to be at the back and ascending. It is a symbol of Oneness ... of continuation

The Soul of America Rejoices. A Free Verse Sonnet. An older poem

A piercing ray; a new dawn beckons;

Hope blossoms in the Heart of man.

The Soul of America rejoices,

Liberty strums its melody in the Hearts of all.

The Tao of dauntless courage,

Heralds yet another promising sunrise;

My core celebrates, with America’s indomitable Will.

Delight! O my Spirit! Glory to an awakening Sun.

The minstrels dance from heaven;

Blowing the victory-conches of supernal Love.

Into an ocean of sky-filled exultation,

The vision of the Founding Fathers,

Floats on the crest of golden wings,

Kissing the Light of the moon, in peerless bliss.

Sri Chinmoy Talks on limited Freedom plus infinite Freedom

Wisdom From the Master

"...What is freedom? Freedom is our conscious, spontaneous and selfless search for Light, abundant Light, infinite.

There are two kinds of Light: the outer light and the inner light. The outer light exposes us, examines us and judges us. The inner light awakens us, illumines us and fulfils us..." - Sri Chinmoy. The full talk on Freedom, can be read here:

Unique, exquisite and beautiful poems covering various aspects of freedom, Manatita. I loved all of them, but the poem 'Liberation, extract from your poem Hope and Liberation' a little bit more than the others. The talk by Sri Chinmoy is very inspiring and uplifting. A wonderful response to Brenda's word prompt.

manatita44 (author) from london on September 12, 2021:

Yes, we do this here on Guru Puja day at an Ashram in Battle, near Hastings. Usually Mid July or August, I think. Thank you so much. These are extracts taken from another poem as this part includes the outer body experience of the soul in Freedom.

manatita44 (author) from london on September 12, 2021:

Brother you made me laugh... in a loving way. You say: It is a lonely battle. It sure is! Guru ji used to say that all Spiritual Masters suffer. They come with infinite Light, but humanity Remains ungrateful. Yoga calls this Ignorance but it's very real!

Always a joy hearing from you! You seem to have taken a break. Thank you so much!! You honour me but I am in awe of your versatility and great writing skills.

Happy Ganeshotsava!!

manatita44 (author) from london on September 11, 2021:

My loving and esteemed Alicia C

Higher blessings and gratitude. When I finish here, I'll get to you. Apologies for my lateness. Just doing too much and tired. I have a book you'd like. It's an anthology of the black dignitaries, luminaries, movers and shakers in Great Britain.

People from the Caribbean, Commonwealth and Africa. They unveiled a Statue for the Windrush Generation and had a book launch as well. Through God's Grace, I was invited to do two poems for the book and to tell my story.

The book is large. 300 pages and quite as colourfull as it is significant. It was an awesome evening with food that would make Linda L very proud. Anyway, I digress. Thank you so much!!

manatita44 (author) from london on September 11, 2021:

You honour me. Thank you so much! I'm familiar with you, but yes, don't recall we communicating ... at least not recently. 'nuff respect!!

manatita44 (author) from london on September 11, 2021:

Bill, you're the man and what you say sounds like the music of the spheres. Gratitude ... much!!

manatita44 (author) from london on September 11, 2021:

Brenda, no need to correct you. As always, you did a superbly excellent job. It's a new and fresh style, like snow-flakes, riding upon the zephyrs of the eve. You're methodical, like Linda L and Bill, but Bill is admittedly slowing down gracefully. You've covered so many areas! Gratitude ... much.

Finally, you are becoming like me in the sense that your comments flow like poetry. Sometimes, I take my prose and then turn them into poetry, as they flow so effortlessly. Do that as well. Peace.

manatita44 (author) from london on September 11, 2021:

Treshty, love your super power hugs. Healing. As is your sugcane comments. So touching!

' like a fuel to my soul.' - Treshty. That is an awesome line! I commend you. Peace!

manatita44 (author) from london on September 11, 2021:

Chitrangada ji,

Yes, it seems so. I hope to join Marissa Prada at midnight for a memorial to 9/11. I'm late here, as I'm so tired. I need a rest. Know that I appreciate you and all my friends. Higher blessings.

Thank you for sharing!

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on September 11, 2021:

Please correct me on anything I have gotten wrong.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on September 11, 2021:

In your sonnet, "Nature's Freedom. A Regular Sonnet" you tell us that out of the darkness comes nature's beauty.

The moon, the stars, the sun all give birth to so many wonders.

Each glimpse of light allows nature to provide the miracles we need to sustain life.

Love's little miracles embraced in each one frees our souls.

Your poem,

"Heavenly Freedom: To all Those we Lost in the NHS and Frontline Services" you show us that while we grieve the loss of the departed souls who lost their lives because they

reached out with helping hands, God shows them glory as he welcomes them home.

For they stood behind their principles by standing firm with the hippocratic oath they took & lost their own lives in the process.

Your poem, "Liberation. Extracts from my Poem, ‘Hope and Transformation" you show us how you become fixated upon the light of the heavens.

You tell us that Sage Vasishta’s wife resides there & many couples give honor, praying their marriages will be blessed.

As a young boy you wanted to travel to the moon to play with it, but your mother said it will come to you one day.

Now you live life with the knowledge that your soul will live eternally as you leave your mortal body behind.

You spend your days reaching out to paradise, shedding tears of happiness.

Beautiful part of your poem, showing us we have the freedom to choose eternal life.

(I did have to look up Sage Vasishta’s wife)

In "A Thought-Provoking Look at Freedom" you tell us it is sometimes hard to decipher the good from the bad.

Nothing we do is by a random choice, but so often we close the window of our heart not letting the light inside.

In "The Soul of America Rejoices. A Free Verse Sonnet. An older poem" you tell us that with each new dawn of sunlight Americans rejoice.

They have indomitable will & courage.

Their hearts are filled with love despite the tragedies that come before them.

Then you give us Wisdom From the Master.

Freedom is our search for the abundant light that lasts forever.

There are two kinds: outer & inner.

The outer light judges us while the inner light awakens us.

This word prompt has definitely touched your soul.

You give us much food for thought.

Freedom is the light we all search for in the end.

I will post a link in the word prompt article.

Feel free to correct me on any parts I have gotten wrong.

Chrish Canosa from Manila Philippines on September 11, 2021:

Your words always makes me feel like a fuel to my soul. the message, the scenery you painted, WoW!

I can feel it all to deepest core of my heart.

Always always I'm a huge fan.

Sending I love yous and super power hugs!

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on September 11, 2021:

What a wonderful and inspirational collection of poetry, manatita. So much wisdom within and perfectly meeting the prompt "freedom." Peace.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on September 11, 2021:

What an excellent and worthy response to Brenda’s prompt. “Freedom”. Bro, I truly loved your take on this prompt. Super Bravo and excelentes poemas. You have given us a lot of examples of freedom.
