My Woodland Walk

Lorna is a published writer with a particular interest in narrative poetry, which she finds therapeutic.

my-woodland-walk

Dawn’s first light draws back its veil of morning mist

Revealing the woodland’s changing seasons whose shadows

Flit amongst the ancient trees as gentle sunbeams dance

In gay abandon to the blackbird’s song of mystic notes

Lingering in the air of serenity within this tranquil bower

Spirits of the gentle stream dance beside crystal waters

Whose whispered melodies swell its deepest currents

Woven into a glorious tapestry of endless exploration

Where the charm of a hidden path lies in its discovery

Within this wood that calls to me as deeply as I breathe

Journeying into the shaded forest I find my inner self

Where all the senses are awakened in the muted light

As I listen to the orchestra of life’s perfect harmony

Captured in a painted landscape of many different hues

Whose spiritual balance of acceptance is love

The seasons proclaim the beginning of an endless spiral

Where the joy of spring welcomes the warmth of summer

And the mystery of autumn is revealed in winter’s peace

Allowing wisdom to linger in those moments of hope

Held within the current season encircling our fragile lives

An all-pervasive silence surrounds this wooded sanctuary

As evening stars bathe the trees in gentle silhouettes

And I find myself embraced by an aura of enchantment

Where spirits of the forest pass through my silent thoughts

Echoing the perfect stillness of this world within a world

You almost transported me into a nice walk in the woods. You are so right Lorna about the calmness that comes over when we go for a deep introspective walk in the woods, devoid of humans with only the sounds of nature cleaning the toxins of stress within us. Thanks for sharing.
