My Thoughts on Mother's Day: A Rhyme Composed by My Heart

Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.

Being a mother is an attitude, not a biological relation.

-- Robert A. Heinlein

Is she watching over this old body at night

shedding a tear on each line of this face

wondering if she was teaching me right

then disappearing at dawn with grace.

Where are those hands so soft and caring

blessing my soul with their angelic touch

in a childhood without much for sharing

except her heart that loved me so much.

Where are those blue eyes, as if part of sky

to glitter with a joy like morning rays of sun

or was it a secret tear of a suppressed cry

for those hurting things others had done.

Now just the black-and white photo fading in a frame

capturing that beauty no other woman could possess

so ordinary and humble, and yet in my heart a dame

a feeling that's so sacred, and impossible to express.

I hope she is happy wherever she may be

telling those other angels about her son

now unburdened of hardships and free

enjoying long deserved heavenly fun.
