My old truck "he's" taken us through thick and thin
Hunger and gin, took us for a younger spin.
"She" knows where the pains have and haven't been.
My old truck not just a brother, I'll always miss.
Thunder scared me a fool-hearted lad
My old truck, just a kid himself, sheltered me.
Like a sweet nurse, good as love, seldom bad.
Gave my eyes seek wisdom if only once to see.
My old truck gave me life, yet took not for "himself"
Like a dunce, I danced the Dance of The Blind Fool.
Laughter hid from me and love laid on a dusty shelf.
But still, my old truck endured the sun, fought the pleasant ghoul.
"He" knew as I did too that "our" lives were at the end
Yet, her sparkling eyes took me safe in darkest night.
Not a meal to eat nor swift wine to depend
"His" time is over; mine is clearly in sight.
But my old truck . . .oh what a ride.
