My Garden Rose—Poem

Chitrangada likes to express herself by writing fiction and poetry. Her writing reflects her mood and is inspired by the beauty of nature.

My Garden Rose

My Garden Rose

My Garden Rose—Poem.

Early in the morning,

When I glanced at you,

I knew it in my heart,

It’s going to be a lovely day,

I smiled, all by myself,

And you smiled back,

I admired your hues,

That nothing can match,

My heart full of gratitude,

My eyes brighter with joy,

I touched you tenderly,

Oh! The heavenly fragrance,

I preserve these precious moments,

For, you are here for a brief time,

You arise to take my pain away,

And the calmness, not hard to miss,

I live happily, in the moment,

And cherish your presence,

The gentle morning wind,

And, your soothing moves,

As if singing a joyful song,

And doing a happy dance,

I want to capture these moments,

Please keep coming in my life,

Blooming and grooving,

Glowing and blossoming,

Oh! My dear garden Rose!
Oh! My dear garden Rose!

A Rose, is a Rose, is a Rose—Always beautiful. And, it’s more beautiful, if it’s booming in your garden.

A Rose, is a Rose, is a Rose—Always beautiful. And, it’s more beautiful, if it’s booming in your garden.

The Theme of the poem:

‘One Rose is enough for the dawn.’—Edmond Jabes.

How true!
Each morning, I head towards my little garden. And, if I find a Rose flower greeting me, my joy knows no bounds. Flowers are there, only for a short while, but in the short span of life, they spread joy and happiness, whoever comes near them.
We are also here for a short while. Spread happiness, Stay positive, and don’t forget to smell the Roses.

You do the rose such justice with your lovely poem, Chitrangada. A rose does spread happiness with its fragrance and beauty. Such a beautiful metaphor you use to describe life and how the rose can inspire us to do good things and bring love into the lives of others. Thanks for sharing!

How clever of you to equate our lives with the short life of a rose; sweet while it lasted but then gone and forgotten. What a beautiful tribute this joyful flower.

Blessings,

Denise

A very beautiful poem and indeed an immaculate rose. They are a symbol of eternal sacrifice, offering everything from fragrance, radiance, charm, allure and eternal sacrifice ... Love.

Could easily have been written as a human 'Ode to my Rose.' (Smile) You can do some microsoft art, frame it, then offer it as a gratitude token for Diwali or Christmas to your husband. An exquisite poem! Hari Om!

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on December 01, 2020:

Enjoying the beauty of a blooming rose or other flowers is something to celebrate. Their brevity may be brief, as is much of life, but it is there to enjoy. My grandfather's favorite flower was a rose, and he grew rose bushes all the years that I knew him.

Vanita Thakkar on December 01, 2020:

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on December 01, 2020:

Just wonderful. Thank you. I think everyday, or almost, I greet a rose in our garden. Of course that is when in season which for us is most the year.

Soon it will be that bittersweet of pruning them back so they stay healthy and happy.

I think you wrote this poem just for me and my Gabe.

Ankita B on December 01, 2020:

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on December 01, 2020:

Chitrangada,

Loved the feeling of this poem.

A rose can brighten up one's day more than one realizes.

I guess that's why they say to stop and smell the roses.

Take care my friend.

Beautiful words, Chitrangada. I love the sentiment, and we need to cherish the beauty of the flowers in our garden for the short time they are there. As you say, our lives are also short, so we need to spread beauty and happiness.
