Mum’s Pep Talk to Her Daughters #4
Exploring my talent, putting it into use in the literary world for the benefit of humanity and promotion of communication
It is a narrative poetry of a mother who starts to talk to her daughters after much pressurizing from one of them to tell them how she can get a good spouse, because she wants a lovely family like the family where she is being raised up.
As for one of my cousins she and her spouse
Have been friends right from their childhood
Days, but out of the many male friends which she
Has she was not thinking of the person whom she
Got married to, to be the person she would be married
To. They were group of friends then, reading and studying
Together, they called themselves the inseparable eight,
Their distribution is even, four of them are males while the
Other four are females. Their utmost desire was breaking the
Chains of poverty hanging around their necks because their
Parents were poor. Despite being poor, those parents were doing
Their bests to send them school because they discovered that
Education has taken over everything in their island, and if
Their children would meet up with their peers globally, they
Need to give it all it takes to educate them. As their parents
Are struggling to give them qualitative education to enhance
Their smooth entry into universities, those children too were
Doing their best to ensure that the labors of their parents on
Them did not turn out to zero, thus, they formed the group
Called the inseparable eight, they gathered for studies after
Their normal school hours and during weekends would meet
At a nearby secondary school to read together and rub minds.
However, out of all the four males, one of them was closer to
My cousin than the rest, and this was the one she has in mind to
Be romantically involved with, but things did not turn out as she
Thought, because that person did not propose to her at all. All her
Moves to draw him to herself did not work, for he said, to one of
Them later after raising the relationship between him and her that
“I like her being my friend but not being my wife”. When the person
Pressed him that good friends would eventually make good couples
His reply was that he cannot disprove that, but something within him
Keeps telling him that he should not be married to her. Adding that he knows
That if he proposes to her she will not turn him down, but his instincts is
Putting restrictions on being romantically involved with her. When he says
This the person says, may be that thought would change later and the chapter
Was closed. However, about four years after this, my cousin left the island for
Another place as her parents were transferred from that island. The same
Happens to this young man who was close to her, that was how the inseparable
Eight starts breaking up. Though they tried contacting themselves, but it is
Not like seeing one another everyday as before. By the time they would
Meet again, that guy has been engaged to another lady from another island.
In the meanwhile it seems as if my cousin was yet hoping he would come,
But on discovering that he has been engaged to another person that was
When she started thinking of the person she is married to because the guy
Has proposed to her before she left the island, and was doing his best to
Pay her a visit every month because the island where they moved to
Is close to where he lives. That is how they eventually got married and
They are happily living together. And the other guy too married an academic
They are also doing fine, in fact he does not come to their island again
As he has secured appointment with the government of the island he
Relocated to.
(Other stories she shared with her daughter for them to know that what works for person Q may not work for person X would be shared in other articles)
