Author:

Manatita is an esteemed author living in London, UK. He writes spiritual books, flash fiction and esoteric poetry, his favourite genre.

Food for Thought

“Be sincere in your thoughts, be pure in your feelings. You will not have to run after happiness. Happiness will run after you.” Sri Chinmoy

A great man once said that we are all doing time. Not the yogic way of expressing this wisdom, but yes, each soul has its own troubles and its thoughts centres around itself. This struggle is necessary as it encourages us to reach out to the One, in order to find Peace … to re-discover our true Nature.

We are all lovers by character, only we do not know whom to Love. This quest, awakens in us, the need for fulfillment; the inner hunger to know our true Source.

A free verse Sonnet

O Friend of the Eternal, Come!

O Friend of the Eternal, come!

You are so beautiful today!

Awake in Thy bewilderment,

Last night I dared not sleep.

There in this garden of Lovers,

The moon and stars held a banquet in my Spirit.

Today I am intoxicated;

See nothing but grandeur at my feet.

Sweet bewildering Light!

How do I hold this paragon of rhapsody?

O Lantern, close the door of the intellect;

Open wide the Heart’s purity-window.

Let the Light of the sun radiate within,

Spinning the wheels of nectar in thy soul.

Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 14th July 2018.

Love Turned me Around. A regular Sonnet

In school to learn from the mentor called Life,

I bow in respect of its decisions.

Dark shadows within me, causing my strife,

A rose encountering numerous thorns.

Calling! A relentless pull of desires,

Their scorching flame tugs at my temptations.

No moonlit stars or musical lyres,

I am the prey of my own creations.

O Love, enfold me close to Thy glory--,

This great pageantry of numberless flares.

Erase the appeal of this sad story;

Fill me with ecstasy throughout my years.

Some saw a destiny bearing me down,

With effortless Grace, Love turned me around.

Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 15th July 2018

Thanks Peggy.

I thought that you were already here. Yes, I use nature a lot. Very soothing to the soul.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on August 01, 2018:

Peace does come from within. I can see that as of now I have voted with the majority. Nature can be so soothing to the soul.

For a few minutes, your poem removed me from this world and took me with you to a light-filled wonderland! It is as though you are flying through your soul's home when you write.

Much gratitude

manatita44 (author) from london on July 17, 2018:

Thank you John.

Appreciations.

Dana,

That's deep, paradoxycal and so must be right. I love the way you express it. Beautiful!!

Dana Tate from LOS ANGELES on July 17, 2018:

Sri Chimnoy's words enlightened the heart wisdom flows from his mouth. Beautiful Sonnet's. Love turned me around. We search for love and some find it enough to be satisfied. Some find it and are satisfied for awhile, and for some it's a continuous search.

When I went on my inner search I found peace. I began to stop expecting perfect love from others. I looked deep inside myself and understood I also was not capable of perfect love. The funny thing is

once I understood I could not achieve perfect love through my own efforts loving became more easy to do

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on July 17, 2018:

I enjoyed both sonnets, Manatita. And the quotes as well. A pleasure to read as always.

manatita44 (author) from london on July 16, 2018:

I love Sri Chimnoy's quote. It is fitting for your lovely poem. True inner joy is absolutely self-created. What wisdom! You write with immense spirituality and conviction. I am grateful to you. May peace and joy dwell with you as you continue to inspire others with your beautiful and motivating words.

Rajan Singh Jolly from From Mumbai, presently in Jalandhar, INDIA. on July 16, 2018:

I love this free verse sonnet, especially, the following lines

"O Lantern, close the door of the intellect;

Open wide the Heart’s purity-window.

Let the Light of the sun radiate within,

Spinning the wheels of nectar in thy soul"

If only we can do this, there would be more peace around.

manatita44 (author) from london on July 16, 2018:

Yes, Mrs Lum.

You are increasingly deeper ... up my street. Lol.

This is God's victory... Christs' victory. I'm very happy for you. Continue ... continue. I wish you God's peace.

Linda C,

Yes. Rinita liked that one too. Purely creative. I sort of 'feel' them out. Thank you so much!

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on July 16, 2018:

You have a beautiful way of expressing your thoughts. "The moon and stars held a banquet in my Spirit" is a wonderful image and idea.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on July 16, 2018:

“If you do not find peace inside your own heart, then you will not find it anywhere else on earth.” “True inner joy is self-created. It does not depend on outer circumstances or outer achievements.” Sri Chinmoy

I truly appreciate these words, such wisdom. We are each as happy or as sad as we choose to be. It is a conscious choice.

manatita44 (author) from london on July 16, 2018:

Thanks Elijah.

Appreciated. We agree. My Hub before this and indeed 98 % of my 8 years of writing here speaks of this.

Thanks for your support.

manatita44 (author) from london on July 16, 2018:

Haha Ioannis.

I have no particular person in mind. There are people in my Centre with mature Hearts and active minds. They use it in very positive ways. Like you do Bro...like you do.

Spirituality negates nothing and especially when it is working for the Divine victory of the Supreme.

Elijah A Alexander Jr from Washington DC on July 16, 2018:

I especially enjoyed "Love Turned me Around" although the great man (who) once said "This struggle is necessary as it encourages us to 'reach out' to the One" tends to mislead us.

Being a follower of the one called Christ what I've found is the place to look is within ourselves because he said "the kingdom of heaven is within you" and the book said "heaven is God's throne." That means the place for us to look is within ourselves as what is called the Lord's prayer saying "thy kingdom come in earth as it is in heaver" means we are to relinquish all of our external controls to "Love" within ourselves causing it manifest itself to others in this world through our bodies.

They both were interesting, thank you.

Ioannis Arvanitis from Greece, Almyros on July 16, 2018:

"O Lantern, close the door of the intellect;

Open wide the Heart’s purity-window."

I've got the innuendo, Brother, I am trying, I am trying! You know it, don't you? Ha! Ha!

You are a source of meditations and prayers, Oh! Lantern, my Lantern!

Gratitude for the beauty!

Yes, Mary.

The mind is full of trouble. Spirituality is the language of the Heart. Thank you so much!

Eric,

Appreciated. So glad that your day started in a positive way. Peace.

Bill,

'Lovers by nature, yes. I used the word 'character' as I had used 'nature' already. It would suffice. But character is the sum total of our personality and can be brutal in some. We are all His beautiful flames and we all seek His Love, our original state or Source. That is what I meant. We are all sons and daughters of God. Gratitude.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on July 16, 2018:

We are all lovers by character...I like that...and I want to believe that. Let us hope that character shines through around the world, my friend.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on July 16, 2018:

Wonderful. And a wonderful way to start my day. Thank you.

Mary Norton from Ontario, Canada on July 16, 2018:

Approach God not with your thinking mind but with your crying heart...I think this is the message for me today...to let the sunshine come into my heart. Thank you Manatita.

manatita44 (author) from london on July 16, 2018:

Good morning Rinita. p.m for you, perhaps.

Thank you for being the first to grace my Hub and your loving comment. Hari Om Tat Sat!

Rinita Sen on July 16, 2018:

"The moon and stars held a banquet in my Spirit"

I like this the best. Both sonnets are elegant, representing the beauty of the purity of love.
