Self-portrait

...of the Life She's Never Lived.

She pushed you, you said

She doesn't know how

But you said it twice

Guess, she gets it now.

She was hurt, She felt it

That she cannot be the

Centre of your life

So, be it, she'll take it.

She doesn't have to say

What she's going thru

It’s painful enough

To even utter a word.

She'll keep it to herself

Are you happy now?

That you got your way into

Hurting her delicate heart?

She's nobody, she gets it

That was the message

Conveyed and put across

On the table for two.

She'll keep it wrap now

One time is all it takes

To conceal her heart

Pretend she doesn't care.

She can put a façade

She's good at putting a smile

Show the world a happy face

But that won’t heal the cut.

Because she's loved you

All her life and she's breathing

Thru you every minute

Every hour, everyday.

Oh yes, that innocent face

Naïve look of pure grace

Misconstrued?

Blame it to her and no one else.

But she refused, she refused

To stop from loving you

Because it would mean death

Of the life she's never lived.

XOXO~

manatita44: I'm pretty sure you know this song. Sing with me:

"Love is all that matters

Faithful and forever

Keepin' us together

Love is all we need

Prisoner of illusion

Sentence is suspended

Loneliness is ended

Love has set me free" ~

...and that for sure is going into my Jukebox Page.

Thank you.

John: The world needs more people like you, who's there to always encourage. Thank you for believing in me. I must admit, I sometimes do not believe in myself and that's when my demons come. :)

Most passionate write. Love the song.

FlourishAnyway from USA on May 15, 2018:

Very emotional and raw. Broken, traumatized hearts find each other if they’re not careful.

manatita44 from london on May 14, 2018:

Since you asked, then I say that Love is there with you, even inside the broken heart.

Both Light and shadow are the dance of Love. Love illumines, until one day we find that all the mists are gone like parting clouds. Then Love whispers sweet melodies to the heart.

Excellent poetry!

Frank Atanacio from Shelton on May 14, 2018:

This was amazingly strong.. words so deliberate which makes this poem a must read awesome my friend

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on May 14, 2018:

You packed a lot of emotion into one poem, Cris. I love this...love this...having had a broken heart or two along my journey.

Louise Powles from Norfolk, England on May 14, 2018:

I really enjoyed reading your poem. And I like the Jane Austin poem. That's very true.

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on May 13, 2018:

Well, Cris, You live the poetry..you can write. This poem conveys so much feeling and hurt. I love it. Where do broken hearts go? I think they go to the broken heart hospital to be cleaned up and resurrected to love afresh.
