Midnight Blue

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .

It’s midnight blue,

dark clouds blown by the wind,

the moon like a beacon,

shines far into the night.

Memories so golden,

come shining along with the twinkling stars,

when together we would dream,

under different skies.

Midnight blue,

I can hear melodies play,

they all seem to say,

your love has gone away.

But when I remember the words,

that you used to say,

the songs you sang,

to steal my heart away,

I know you’re never too far,

even if you’re not beside me,

every midnight blue hour,

still brings your love to me.

Midnight blue,

where did the time go,

since you drifted away,

but left your love,

deep in my heart.

The things I see,

that make me smile,

only remind me of you,

what you would say or do,

while we would walk along,

never worrying about tomorrow,

as long as our love brought no sorrow,

until I was left behind –

when your next tomorrow never came.

Days just drifting along,

the sun mingles with shade,

nothing ever the same,

just waiting for twilight time,

that will send the midnight blue hour to me.

Thoughts drifting again,

memories like photos flashing through my mind,

different sky, different time,

yet all those special times,

come back again,

when I sit and watch the clouds at play,

the moon and the stars,

beneath which we’d wander,

many a night just you and me,

it always comes back –

in the midnight hour,

as I wait and dream,

wait for you to be near –

always in the midnight hour and always midnight blue.

Excellent. Loved the moving images and the way the verses made the reader follow your thoughts, drifting into our own - about loved ones - meeting and departing in the blues of midnight.

Wonderful work, Gypsy,

Much respect,

The image of the sun shining down on the blue waves crashing toward the shore and the haunting music of Foreigner, accompanying your magical poetry, creates a near out-of-body experience. So very moving, Gypsy..........................................................

What a beautiful verse! Melancholy yet bringing back lovely memories. 'Midnight Blue' is a brilliant title and phrase. Hard to live without someone but our memories bring them back. Well done.
