Merry Little Christmas

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .

This Christmas as always,

your love will shine down upon me

and I’ll content be -

to know that your love goes on.

This year another love,

joins you in the eternal skies,

I’ll be content with my memories,

of brighter Christmas times.

With every Christmas song,

I’ll imagine hearing bells ring –

knowing that somewhere angels have got their wings.

There’ll be no shining ornaments,

no glowing Christmas tree,

but there’ll be a warmth in my heart –

always remembering your love.

Come Christmas Eve

I know you’ll all be with me,

perhaps I can wander,

out in the frosty night.

There to look up at the stars,

to find your loving faces,

looking down upon me

and for a moment together we can be.

It’s Christmas time,

once more and time has flown,

had I but known -

how many Christmases would be without you.

But mom and dad you know,

that I can go on,

now with my love gone –

I’ll still burn a Christmas candle bright.

So glad to know,

that your love shines on,

throughout eternity,

from year to year.

In my heart I’ll always hold you dear,

so have yourselves a Merry little Christmas,

up beyond the stars and make my yuletide bright -

by being a part of my Christmas and the love in my heart.

Everyday celebration is a reverberation,

Of reasons, long gone, yet, life has to carry on.

Beautiful sad Poetry gypsy.

Great Christmas poem. Reminds me of my grandma who passed away about 5 years ago. She loved Christmas!

This was very tender. A loved one of mine died at Christmastime several years ago and it’s affected the joy of the season, turning it bittersweet. I hope that doesn’t happen with you.

This is a moving poem. It's filled with both sadness and beauty. The thought of our loved ones looking down at us is wonderful.
