Managers And Teachers
When too much together,
And Teachers manage.
Except for true lovers,
As for everything else,
Togetherness in excess,
Troubles and harms.

Learning is a great joy. So it is with teaching. We never (or rather should never) cease to be a student. We learn and grow as a student even while teaching. Having been a learner, a student as well as a teacher / educator, I found that the discrepancies prevailing in education systems, especially in the administration of education systems, bring forth many a harsh facts, to teach quite a few important lessons of life. One such lesson is described in this poem.
Not that the managements are always at fault, but perhaps, the right combinations are not available - of vision, commitment and solution-oriented approaches. Managements do have an upper hand in most cases. Perhaps there is lack of strong enough will or there is a lack of faith on goodness or both to bring about changes for good.
Unfortunately, in India, the reservation system, that was principally meant for ensuring opportunities to underrated, underprivileged and otherwise ignored, but deserving aspirants, developed into a system that compromised badly on merits and principles. The right to education ensures that every citizen gets opportunity to get education according to his aptitude and capabilities, so that he / she can respectfully pursue a career / profession / business. The reservation policy turned out to be a great disaster as meritorious candidates suffered set backs and those with lesser merits and capabilities grabbed qualifications and positions. This in turn gave rise to vicious circles of cumulative stresses and mind games in administrative systems that vitiate working conditions, working atmospheres and quality of outputs. Every good quality, every advantageous attribute is rendered a cause of troubles and a reason for disadvantages in such conditions.
There are many other such important and necessary scopes of improvement in the education systems that require attention of policy makers and awareness among citizens. This is a long ignored and unattended aspect that will require honest and sincere efforts of policy makers and authorities as well as citizens.
Our education needs to move as early and as fast as possible from mere literacy in the disguise of education to real, essential education, that makes life enlightened, happy and prosperous for individuals as well as for human society as a whole.
