Making Magick

Pagan Poetry is a specialty of mine - I have a website called TheGypsyThread with more of my work.

Magick symbols, lines and sigils

Witching hour, midnight vigil

High upon a mountain cliff

Seals are carved; potent glyphs

To help, to heal, or to prevent

Create a pathway of intent

Herbs, fire, and ferrous metals

Powered by the elementals

Secrets of a thousand years

Energy drawn from many spheres

Shadow book and sacred space

Outside of time, a hallowed place

Candles lit at every quarter

Verses read in perfect order

The secret laws of alchemy

Revealed in this reality

With water, fire, earth, and air

Ancient words and Goddess prayer

Thank You for the quick response. I read your "What Is Magick, You Ask?" piece from the other website. Thank You for sharing it. Cool photos and I like your indepth look at Magic in that piece of writing (real Magic not the illusion and tricks that entertainers do). I keep calling your Magick: Magic and I' will tell You why.

Magic has some history in my family. My grandmother practiced sorcery, she was a Seer. Her mother, my great-grandmother was a Seer as well. For us, it has always been Magic. The impostors can pick another name for their tricks, if they wish.

And I am glad that the Merriam-Webster dictionary (as most others which I have seen as well) defines "Magic" as: "a : the use of means (such as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces b : magic rites or incantations ..."

Anyway, I justcame back for the sake of the conversation and I like words. When did this "Magick" word come around? I can't say I have seen it many times. Although, I have seen it used before a handful of times in my life.

      All the best!

Mr. Happy - thanks for reading. Magic is what's performed on a stage by illusionists for entertainment. Magick on the other hand is an umbrella word to cover those who work with the supernatural or metaphysical arts. I actually wrote an article about the differences on my personal blog (link below)

      Haha! Awesome!

I do not usually read poetry but since You were writing about Magic, I had to read it and it was impressive. You put it all eighteen lines. Bravo!

It's Magic though. I don't know what Magick is ; ) For me there is Magic and then, there are the stage/entertainment illusionists.

All righty, You have a good one! May Wakan Tanka guide your path.

Why thank you Threekeys - I've owned the Gypsy Thread for a long time, but recently started putting some effort into getting it trending. I'm having fun sharing little bits of the past in my own way. I appreciate you reading and sharing your thoughts!

Ralph you just keep surprising me! I visited your website thegypsythread and what a trinket trove of teasures you lay before our eyes The subjects you cover are both tantalizingly obscure yet detailed. And your poetry continues to be a beautiful expression in time.

I dont know if its been hard work for a long time or not for you, but congratulations! Ralph.
