Lies

Oh, man in the

moon,

why do you make

their hearts swoon,

with those

dangerous

icy-azure

eyes?

Your eyes

do not show

a certain

secret

that you stow,

and I suspect

it is your

sharp-edged,

icy-azure lies.

Oh, man in the

moon,

why are you

leaving so soon,

when they long to

remain

inside your

penetrating

icy-azure eyes?

Have you really

gone away,

or are you

merely gazing

down at new prey,

as you polish,

and make ready,

your deceptive,

icy-azure lies?

Thank you, Brenda. It is about a Sociopath. He only pretends to help people so he can lure them in, and then he eats them for lunch.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on January 29, 2020:

Awe...to fall in love in the moonlight is so grand but then the man in the moon leaves us. He looks upon new prey forgetting the ones he helped.

Was it a lie?

Nice write.

As always, your comment is so kind, Manatita. ❤️

Nice take on the moon. Embellishments internally and externally, seem to help us, like scriptural myths. Good poetry, my Dear. Continue!

Thank you, Mark. I was inspired to write this due to those who carry around abundant lies, and look down upon others.

♥️

Mark Tulin from Ventura, California on November 04, 2019:

Interesting take on the man in the moon, Tamara. The man in the moon, so often written about, must be holding secrets he's not telling us about. We keep looking up to him with curiosity.

Bill,

I did not, yet. But, you have just inspired me to do so! When I do, I will send it to you.

Lovely work Tamara - almost like a moral to the tale story. Nice play with words.
