Lure of Temptation

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Lure of Temptation" is a poem about someone being tempted by the Devil.

He comes close to the edge when he hears silent echoes from his past as life reveals an interesting hand right in front of him.

He is tempted.

lure-of-temptation

Lure of Temptation

Losing one’s way

in the midst of the silent echoes

drawing him close to the edge.

Life’s catastrophes

knock upon the door

sending him to hell and back.

He tries to remain pure at heart

but the devil introduces an interesting hand

tempting him along the way.

lure-of-temptation

Be sober-minded;

be watchful.

Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

I don't know that sex is the worst, for it can be a beautiful part of a relationship.

There are many evils lurking around each corner.

Miebakagh Fiberesima from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, NIGERIA. on August 11, 2021:

The worst is sex.

That's interesting.

We do all come face to face with the devil's temptations.

Thank you.

I enjoyed reading your take on this one.

It is up to each one of us.

Have a great day.

I don't think many will agree to the 'inner devil' thing. It equates to harbouring evil.

Ravi Rajan from Mumbai on August 08, 2021:

Nice poem Brenda with a subtle message that echoes beautifully throughout the piece. I believe the "devil" in today's world lies within each one of us and it is entirely up to us to how we keep this inner devil of ours under control. Thanks, Brenda.

Thank you.

It's like a carrot dangling in front of a horse...but if you say No...

You are right.

The devil walks away until the next time he tries to tempt you.

The allure of desires and temptations. An attractive woman with a swing is not easy to resist. Money and allure; Kamini Kanchana (Women and gold), that is what the great Seer Sri Ramakrishna said. Meaning, lust, the greed for power and material attachments. Sums it up well!

Miebakagh Fiberesima from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, NIGERIA. on August 08, 2021:

Temptations are easy to put down by the grace of God. Just say no to the Devil. That kind of sent him back to his camp.

That he can be.

I've been trying to convince someone about the existence of God...

It's falling on death ears, for he doesn't believe.

Take care.

Beware of the devil for he is very tempting and yet he is ready to prowl. Haha! I loved your poetry, Brenda. Thanks for sharing.
