loves-estuary

I found you in a dream swept upon the shore

Where the trembling ocean meets the storm

Leaving us like grains of sand falling softly

Within messages woven into an eternal love

You gave me your heart which became a symbol

Of our fixed compass where waves ran wild

Filling our souls with a rhapsody in motion

Touched by sunbeams held in our hands

Our love wandered through fields of flowers

Where the silence of butterflies hung in the air

Amidst the soothing streams of endless joy

Remembering that first awakening breath

The graceful beauty of all that is precious

Touching the turn of the tide within each dawn

An interweaving light of unforgettable moments

Creating memories etched forever in our minds

Years became the timeless flow of flickering candles

Where I held your life within the breath of the wind

Knowing that our estuary of love was softly fading

On retreating waves embraced by the mist of the sea

Like one long, pleasant dream! I love the last verse in which it fades softly, for all good things come to an end, as in the waves retreating. Beautiful imagery throughout.

Thank you for stopping by Denise and the poem's ending is about the years of our lives drawing to a close like the retreating tide. My poems aren't usually as thought provoking, however, it's always good to mix things up a little. I hope you enjoyed it and your comments are always appreciated.

The years of our lives flow out to sea and are lost in the tide? Or is it our love that is swept away? This one was deep as the ocean itself.

Blessings,

Denise

Lorna,

You did a wonderful job on this poem.

As usual your words are soft and graceful but give us a detail of pure love within each line.

The ending seems bittersweet as she realizes the time has come for this love to fade away.

Great job.
