Love Till Eternity

A Few Words From The Author

I’ve read quite a few poems in the last few days written in the format of what is called “The Blitz Poem". The chain reaction started in HubPages from the article by Veronica McDonald, "Poetry Exercise: Write a Blitz Poem" and since I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the poems written so far, I couldn’t resist attempting it myself.

Synopsis

14th February or Valentine’s Day is observed as the day of “love” in most parts of the world. However, the date is also celebrated for yet another special reason in my country, Bangladesh. "Pohela Falgun” is the Bengali Spring Festival that is celebrated on the first day of the month of Falgun as per the Bengali calendar. It marks the first day of the season of all colours, the beautiful Spring. With such a special day of romance and colours right ahead, I thought of writing the Blitz poem with “love” as the theme for it. This is my first attempt at writing a Blitz poem and I sincerely hope you enjoy reading it as much as I had fun writing it.

How To Write A Blitz Poem

I’ve taken the rules from the internet and also from the recent Hubs by fellow Hubbers like John Hansen, Brenda Arledge and Misbah Sheikh.

“Blitz is a rush of phrases and images with rapid repetition. It is a kind of Chain Verse.

It is:

  • stanzaic, written in 25 couplets, a total of 50 lines.
  • unmetered. Lines should be short, but at least 2 words, like rapid fire.
  • unrhymed.
  • composed with words that are repeated from line to line in the following pattern:
    • L1 A short phrase, can be cliché.
    • The first word of L1 is repeated as the first word of L2. From here on, the last word of the even-numbered line is repeated as the first word of each line in the next couplet through L48.
    • L49 is the repetition of the last word of L48.
    • L50 is the repetition of the last word of L47.
  • unpunctuated.
  • titled, which includes the first words of L3 and L47.”

Love Till Eternity ~ Melody

Love Till Eternity ~ A Blitz Poem

If it wasn’t for you

If it wasn’t for our love…

Love that echoes inside of me

Love that softly sings

Sings as one soul

Sings as one heart

Heart that beats for us both

Heart that never keeps us apart

Apart from each other

Apart from our dreams

Dreams keep us going

Dreams help us live

Live our lives with colours

Live our times with a meaning

Meaning often undefined

Meaning can be confusing

Confusing our intellect

Confusing the mind

Mind out of tune

Mind out of control

Control of actions

Control of fear

Fear of losing myself

Fear of losing my identity

Identity that is bound to you

Identity that defines me

Me as a part of you

Me and you being in the same story

Story where we are the protagonists

Story that belongs to us both

Both loving unconditionally

Both dreaming without inhibitions

Inhibitions keep us bound

Inhibitions keep us tied

Tied to expectations

Tied to social norms

Norms built by mankind

Norms that cannot be broken

Broken souls are the result

Broken and shattered people

People longing togetherness

People with compassion

Compassion creates memories

Compassion stirs emotions

Emotions lead us close

Emotions lasting till eternity

Eternity or I would be lost forever

Eternity sealed with love

Love…

Forever…
