Love: The Secret Supreme. An Offering to Chris Mills (Cam 8510)Monday's Inspiration, 26

Manatita is an esteemed author living in London, UK. He writes spiritual books, flash fiction and esoteric poetry, his favourite genre.

Biblical quotes

" ... And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect ." unity. -Colossians 3: 14 (NIV)

"If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing." - 1 Corinthians, 13: 2

Last week I walked past Hammersmith Broadway Station, London, UK, on my way home. I saw some people canvassing and carrying a placard which said: “Love is our human right.” This made me deeply reflective.

Perhaps they were sincere, but to see Love as a commodity to fight for, rather than an inherent flow of our very substance/Consciousness … our very pulse of Being, was not empowering to me. How does this statement remind me of the fact that I am made in the very image of God?

So I reflected on the fact that Love had been reduced to the level of morals and etiquette, not as our birth-right; our very Source of Existence. That some had, perhaps, failed to see themselves as the candle of the Divine… in Essence, God.

Where then is my true worth? How can I love myself if I am stumbling – like in Plato’s republic – bound with chains in a dark tunnel?

“God is Love.” Said the Apostle, and “He that dwelleth in Love, dwelleth in God and God in him.” 1 John, 4: 16 – 21. The great Apostle Paul reminds us, so clearly here:

“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” 1 Corinthians, 6: 19 (KJV)

Seen from a sublime and profound point of view, then yes, Love is in morals. At best – since we must use words - we can say that there is an inherent longing in man, consciously or unconsciously, pushing him towards inner fulfilment … to happiness. That this same urge manifests in the drunkard, the miser, the family man or lover as well as the rich and famous.

We see this in the trees, the flower-garden and in all sentient and non-sentient beings. There is always that yearning … this quest as of one on a journey, longing or looking for something. Without this we cannot move forward, as we will be at the level of the brute. A living ‘dead’ perhaps.

So in that sense, it was Love pushing those people to seek solutions for their problems. I can only hope that they knew this, but my purpose here is to seek and reach those who are seeking a deeper and more aspiring life. God bless them all!! Let us pray that we all find this Love soon. Hari OM!!

Love: The Secret Supreme

She moves purposefully across the ether;

Replenishing the seeds of my existence.

She’s like the quintessence of a kiss

That I have wanted all my life,

Tasting which, my breath

Will never lose its fragrance.

Above the horizon, the vast sky cradles my bosom;

Caressing the Heart with a pageantry of colours;

She gazes at me, and Her lustre paints

An immaculate candle in my core,

Dowsing me in the fire of its sweetness.

Aye, my Beloved One, I’m forever Yours --

A unique longing to express itself,

As an effulgent stream of Love.

The Sea 0f Nurnen

El Mar (The Sea)

What lies beyond this jagged edge? I wonder.

Were I to possess the capacity to trespass

Her flooded gates, would I tumble over?

Her cool algae waters, roll beneath my feet,

As I gaze inwards, engrossed within the music of her soul.

Sea gulls glide within the waves,

As I feel the majesty of this temptress,

Rising and falling like a maiden’s chest;

Her tides swinging, like a Libran Pendulum.

Amidst Her tempestuous voice and sonorous sleep,

There’s a deep stillness on her ocean’s bed,

Caressing my Heart with soothing beats: Dum … dum…

I ascend to Jerusalem, as she replenishes my Spirit;

Healing my soul, with the symphony of the Unknown.

Quote from Sri Chinmoy

"Love is the only wealth that man absolutely needs,

Love is the only wealth that God precisely is." - Sri Chinmoy.

Rabindranath Tagore's Unending Love

Quotes from Sri Chinmoy

“True inner joy is self-created. It does not rely on any outer circumstances. A river is flowing in and through you, carrying the message of joy. This divine joy is the sole purpose of life.” –Sri Chinmoy.

“ A spiritually established life is not an easy task. But a materially satisfied life is an impossible task.” – Sri Chinmoy.

“Judge not, you will be happy. Forgive everything, you will be happier. Love everything, you will be happiest.” – Sri Chinmoy.

If you do not meditate... perhaps you should. Serve also in a larger way. Your Heart is mature and very vast. Our Lord continues to bless your Spirit. PRAISE BE!!

Ioannis Arvanitis from Greece, Almyros on February 01, 2018:

My Brother manatita, I believe that because of we have forgotten that we are made of pure Love, we have become Fallen Angels. I want to express my gratitude for your amazing gift to us, those poems. I also think that the first quote from Sri Chinmoy is everything a man needs to know for a happy life!

manatita44 (author) from london on January 31, 2018:

So happy that you returned, my Brother. Yes, I have a firm grasp of friendship, and you're my friend. Love has blessed me to see the beauty in all that a few of us miss, perhaps.

You're doing well. I face challenges on a similar and yet different level and others do too. I'm saying that it is in the trials that both our humanity and inner Light can come to the fore. As such defense mechanisms and adversity are flames of Love also.

Your comment - in part - reads like an exquisite and sublime review and it's a victory for me; for others, that you have taken the time to return. I have asked two or three to help me with a review of my work in poetry, but your piece is most wonderful, my Brother. Thank you for being my friend. God bless your noble spirit.

Chris Mills from Traverse City, MI on January 30, 2018:

manatita, You understand this slippery thing called love. You also have a firm grasp of friendship. You have invested time, heart and love in this hub, and I am touched to the core by the depth of it. I think my traveling, aside from being my way of earning a living, is a way of diverting my attention from some of the basics of human existence such as relationships which require love, of course. I love the poem, El Mar. I remember when you said my writing about the sea stirred some poetry in you. Thank you for following through and giving us such a beautiful rendering. I am a bit swayed by those of the Deist approach to God. They look for fresh illumination and inspiration in nature. The sea offers a wealth of illustrations about the great circle of life. Your own writings pull a great deal from the natural world. It is something all of us can relate to as we read. Thank you again for your friendship and how you have expressed it in the words of this hub.

manatita44 (author) from london on January 30, 2018:

Good to have you back, Bronwen. Hope you managed to do the books . I'm still struggling to do mines. Thank you so much!

Bronwen Scott-Branagan from Victoria, Australia on January 30, 2018:

I've been away from HubPages for a while, working on some of my books, one of which is 'Do You Love God?' Now I come back and find this beautiful hub - thank you! I enjoyed reading it so much, it's good to be back.

manatita44 (author) from london on January 30, 2018:

Take your time. El Mar has been written with inspiration from you. So look at it closely. Much Love.

Chris Mills from Traverse City, MI on January 30, 2018:

Thank you so much for your thoughtful words. I’ve only had time to read through this once and now I’m on my way to work. I’ll read it again and respond more later thank you again.

manatita44 (author) from london on January 30, 2018:

Thank you, Alicia.

Much appreciated.

I'm really happy that you commented on the second poem as I feel that although different, it is equally beautiful. Appreciations ... much.

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on January 29, 2018:

Your tribute articles are always beautiful, Manatita. This one is no exception.

Frank Atanacio from Shelton on January 29, 2018:

Excellent!! You put it better than me, Brother Elijah. I commend you here!!

Yes, Venkatachari Ji.

Quite possibly so and I do empathise. It is a positive step in some ways. We are all doing time ... all climbing the ladder of life at different rungs. Thank you for your Heart; your beauty ... your family ... Brahma bless you all.

Elijah A Alexander Jr from Washington DC on January 29, 2018:

First the sun's illuminating the sea symbolizing knowledge makes everything between them love. Well written!

I would also have to question someone's saying "love is a right" when is everywhere and all we need to do is open ourselves to receive it.

Venkatachari M from Hyderabad, India on January 29, 2018:

Wonderful message through your beautiful thoughts and nice poems.

Love is the greatest asset of human beings. But, those people holding that placard might have been deprived of a loving atmosphere due to some disturbing incidents in their region. And, so, demanding peace and love.

Your Poetry is a beautiful reward for our great story writer, Chris Mills.

manatita44 (author) from london on January 29, 2018:

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on January 29, 2018:
