Little Boy

Since the moment I held a pencil I've been creating with drawings and words. I believe paintings enlighten and poems entice our audiences.

The Beach

There are times at the beach that become magical when we remember fun-filled moments by the ocean. My poem's purpose is to capture one of these tides of lasting joy.

A Bird's Point of View

The goal from our flying friends above is to conquer that vulnerable moment of food.

A Bird on Watch

Little Boy

We sit above

Handsome in our tailored feathers

Patrons in waiting

For a moment to catch

The dropping of bread

Or a hotdog

Down in dissension

We run our masters map

To our entitled moment

Of a crunchy filled success

Birds of prey

Smart in our endeavors

Cascading in disguise

Our intended quests

We watch from above

Laughter of mini people

In funny little suits

Lounging on floppy chairs

Floating around on banana-like boards

In their attempt to walk on water

High above we sit

Listening to the mania

Of chattered clusters

Chirping out a foreign language

Breathing in all the smells

Of over-applied, stinky sunscreen

Remnants from the canister

Float in the air

Offending us

As their vapors wave by

All the while

We remain focused on our goal

That drippy hotdog

About to fall out of

The little boy’s hand.

Thank you again Lorna for your lovely words.

Lorna Lamon on March 31, 2020:

A wonderful poem which made me think of walking on the beach and trying to protect my chips from the ever watchful seagulls. You have captured the bird's point of view perfectly Mary, and the painting is lovely.
