I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .
Amazing as always,
life throws at you,
the things you least expect,
turning you topsy-turvy
and changing your life forever.
With thoughts reeling,
with great feeling,
I roll back the years,
through eyes misty with tears,
remembering the days,
when life seemed as sweet as cherries
and my heart was filled with my first love.
The years rolled on,
life threw at me,
good and bad times
as I went rolling along.
With my last love,
life always seemed to be,
a virtual spree to me.
there were no worries,
when I had a loving hand to hold,
no fears when I had arms around me.
Like with a movie reel,
that suddenly snaps the film,
it stops and you wonder -
Will the show go on?
Now I poignantly smile,
at the crossroads of my life,
with my first love and my last love gone,
I know that somewhere in eternity -
my last love will be waiting for me.

Thank you, John sadly it was inspired by finding out my first love, my high school boyfriend who I kept up with on FB passed away in October 2019.
That is so, Joy I think that we never forget our first loves.
That is true, Bill I was in touch with my first love my high school boyfriend on FB and was always glad to hear when I inquired that he and his wife were just fine and now suddenly I found out he passed away in October 2019. That Beatles song has always inspired me
Thank you Sam and no, no more love for me I am content with my memories
Thank you, Pamela, and yes, we just have to keep going there is no other choice
But we have the memories, Ruby
Thank you, Brenda

Life does seem to throw things at us when we least expect it.
As you smile at your crossroads, don't be to quick to settle on your fate. I am certain you will see your last love again, but life may have more in store for you.
One never knows.

This is a touching poem that brought back my first love. He is gone, and life goes on.
Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on January 14, 2020:
I think this is a beautiful poem that tells the tale about life through the years. We love and sometimes we lose that loved one. We do have to keep rolling along.

Your last Love may not be your last
What you’re missing may find you
Very nicely done makes me stop and reminisce

Sometimes you just have to "duck and cover" and wait for the avalanche to pass you by. You picked my favorite Beatles song to go with this sweet melancholy of a poem.

Hi Gypsy! Your poem touched my heart like super, it somehow made me again think about my first love too, I know I'm always been in love with him, maybe until the rest of my life but he's gone. Love is really hard to understand.
John Hansen from Gondwana Land on January 14, 2020:
Rasma, this poem is touchingly sad. Expertly written as always, however. Thank you for sharing.
