Life Is Strange That Way

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .

Sunny days,
that see no end,
are like false smiles,
certainly not worth the miles.
Come the dark days,
clouds hide the sun,
life is no more fun,
the night breezes,
blow in the moon and the stars,
sparkling diamonds far and wide.
Dreams taking me far from reality,
to places with fondness remembered.
seeing the smiling faces I miss,
until dawn streaks the sky with light.
Back comes the sun,
chasing away the rain,
perhaps now,
the words will rhyme,
rainbows arching across the sky,
bringing happy songs this time –

isn’t life strange that way?

Happy days,
filling our time just we two,
it was love, we knew,
together hand in hand -
life so very grand,
As time flows through the hourglass,
the days become slower,
we grow older,
if only together we could pass to paradise,
but it never happens that way,
one hand must let go of the other-
leaving behind memories and love eternal.

I believe as long as we keep going through life there is a purpose to all we see and do, Brenda.

So very true, Kathy. Life still gives much to be enjoyed,

You are right, John just the same as the sun must come out after the rain.

Thank you, Demas,

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on August 05, 2021:

Lovely poem...if only it worked that way.

I suppose there is a purpose yet to fulfill under a new rainbow.

Kathy Henderson from Pa on August 05, 2021:

I enjoyed your poem and agreed with John Hansen's comment. May there always be a rainbow after the loudness and even the quietest of life storms.

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on August 05, 2021:

Yes, Rasma, life is strange that way. It goes round and round, happy days followed by sad, good days by bad days. But the good thing is for every bad day, there is a happier one to come.

DREAM ON on August 05, 2021:

Life always seems to throw us a curveball when we are expecting a fastpitch. We make the best of it and are stronger because of it. Thank you so much for sharing and what a wonderful poem.

Here's an Oops!: on hand must let go of the other- Good thoughts, incomplete on the sunny days, was my reaction. Read for train of thought, and edit for professionalism. Love you, Demas
