Letters To My Daughter

Part 1

Listen closely my dear

I will tell you stories

So that you won't make

The same mistakes

That I did

I have many stories to tell

That are hard to listen to

Hard for your heart to accept

But they are for your own good

They will teach you dear

To be wiser

To be smarter

To be more cautious

Not all out there

Is what it seems

You must look past

The illusions

Because there are many

And I will tell you

To please be careful

Little one

You must protect yourself

To survive

So that you can grow into

Who you are

I will begin with story

Number one...

I am not a daughter but I figure my mom and I wrote over 100 times to each other. I think her advice is not remembered by word but is a full on part of who I am. Thanks for this.

Lorna Lamon on October 05, 2019:

Such a beautiful heartfelt poem which reminded me of the letter my mother wrote to me, full of good advice and love. I passed on this advice to my own daughters and hope that one day they will do the same.

Nell Rose from England on October 04, 2019:
