Letter to My Dear Reader

I can't seem to stop writing poetry or reading poetry. I think it is safe to say I love poetry and I love sharing great poetry with others.

Letter to My Dear Reader

Words cannot describe joy you bring me

as you read what I have written lately

a connection I may never see

this elation makes me feel so stately

a validation of my right to be

among my reading peers I sit bravely.

Though I may never meet you fond reader

I write these words for you fellow dreamer.

I have always thought you were out there

one who enjoys reading my humble words

will smile through text though I am unaware

four in the morning by the sound of birds

the turning pages a morning prayer

to stop and look at how you are two-thirds.

Inside things feel like they have just started

writers find ways to keep readers guarded.

Each time a line is read a miracle

through good work with clear reason and rhyme

you watch as water drops from icicle

just like our meeting so perfect in time

you have the power from your bicycle

to pedal and think about your own line.

While sharing in this joy of creating

to find a time to smile with each sitting.

Bigger blessings require bigger heartbreak

I ponder if a story or poem

will stir ideas until finally awake

and vibrate reading with a Lo Fi hum

and satisfy like homemade chocolate cake

the suspense of "the shadow behind him."

These gifts I want to give to my reader

I write these words for you fellow dreamer.

Beautiful sentiments expressed through your poem. Something, which I find no different to my own thoughts. Genuine appreciation from a fellow writer, keeps us motivated to do better, to write better.

Thank you for sharing. I always enjoy reading your poems.

Ann Carr from SW England on April 17, 2021:

Absolutely charming, Jamie! It made me feel all warm inside. This breathes appreciation, joy and some sense of the fulfilment a writer experiences when people give feedback and interpret in a million different ways. That's the beauty of any writing but especially of poetry.

I totally understand where you're at with this one. It's beautiful and fills my heart.

I am smiling on this fresh, sunny English morning, with wonderful words from across the pond.
