Poem: Let Me Be Just Me

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

Let me be just me is about someone has a terminal illness or is in poor health. Many times we treat him differently. We should treat him the same. Let him live his life the way he wants too.

"Let Me Be Just Me"

Please don't grieve

while I am still alive.

Place your worries

in the hand of God,

let him handle them.

Treat me no differently

than yesterday,

before we knew of this illness.

Let me be just me,

like nothing has changed,

let me live each day

as I did before.

Peggy,

Thank you.

I remember feeling this way when I first discovered I had a brain tumor.

I could tell others were suddenly treating me differently, like I had a death sentence on my head.

Thankfully that was in 2006 & I don't let it bother me much anymore.

Take care.

Your poem has a good message on how we should treat others who may be ill. They are still the same person they were before the illness struck.

Recently updated, but the words are true.

Let me live life as I did before this illness.

Louise,

I deeply apologize for missing to send you a reply. Somehow it got overlooked. I am sorry.

I am so happy you loved the words to this poem. It it one I believe in because people suffering only want to be normal.

Thank you for reading.
