Lemon and Spices

Lemon and spices
Blend in the air-
Bluest fresh hues
All perfectly fair.

The innocent heart,
As untainted pearl,
So new to the art
Of feeling the world.

Now decades have past,
Still wandering wild,
Still finding new moments
To fix in my mind.

Careful they say,
You'll run off and stray,
No I know my way,
It's just through those gates.

I knew not at first,
Till he came along,
That dream I had nursed
But thought was too worn.

Lemon and spices
Blend in the air-
Bluest fresh hues
All perfectly fair.
