Last Summer
I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.
Last summer you were there to hold me,
to give me love as always,
till the summer rains came
and you let go of my hand.
Last summer my journey began,
from the sunshine into the darkness,
I felt you slipping away –
just wish I had been there to say goodbye.
Came the dark days,
that swept the summer away,
till I found myself alone in a cold winter world.
Still you were there,
I knew it because I felt the love,
there to watch over me
and shine your love from heaven above.
Came the springtime,
I knew it would never be the same,
in my dreams calling your name,
knowing you’d respond,
feeling your love all around.
Came another summer,
this one with heartache,
not having you near,
the sunny days making me sad
and the rains just feeling bad.
In my heart I know,
you are ever close by,
just remembering last summer,
before the angels came,
now one year without you near –
still wishing I had been there to say goodbye.

Thank you so much, Paula. Yes, it has been a tough year. He was my soul mate and after he passed I had to return to the states. Only this past August 17 it was just one year since he has been gone and so much else has changed in my life. It is not easy but I know I have to go on.

That is true Michael and since animals like cats know ahead of time when spirits come and they can see them my Sid informs me ahead of time. I had a loving visit one night and it was Sid who suddenly gave off happy and ecstatic meows seeing his beloved Papa and I was very glad.
It will be alright Shauna it is just this first year and all the many changes in my life.

Gypsy,
I feel your bittersweet I feel your bittersweet sadness
No longer to walk hand in hand with gladness
Anyone who says I know how you feel
And time will surely heal never had to swallow that bitter pill
I know about broken hearts
When one’s true love departs
That is when the heartache starts
Straight as an arrow leaving you heart in two parts
Blessings my dear friend.
