Lady in the Harbor

Author:
lady-in-the-harbor

People come here from every corner, of this world to stay,

Everyone seeking democracy, coming both night and day.

When they each see our Lady, standing so tall and strong,

Know they have at last arrived, all having searched so long.

Refrain:

The lady in the harbor, she always waits so patiently,

Holding her torch so high, so that the world may see.

Miss Liberty, her name, freedom she does represent,

All who see her there, a joy, no matter each descent.

Our Liberty welcomes every person, never to turn any away,

A symbol of love and hope, blessings come for all who pray.,

Her grand figure remains in place, a beauty seen in her face,

There's strength and determination revealed and of her grace.

Refrain:

The lady in the harbor, she always waits so patiently,

Holding her torch so high, for the whole world to see.

Miss Liberty, her name, freedom she does represent,

All who see her there, a joy, no matter each descent.

Keeping guard over New York's waters, Mother Liberty stands,

Making sure the way is safe, for the people of the foreign lands.

Soon all Americans to be, the names A through Z, forever more,

Now each is a part of Liberty's heart, Over seas, to every shore.

Refrain:

The lady in the harbor, she always waits so patiently,

Holding the torch so high, for the whole world to see.

Miss Liberty, her name, freedom she does represent,

All who see her there, a joy, no matter each descent.

God has blessed our America, as Liberty has stood her ground,

All is safe and forever under her care, no better sentinel around.

Over the years to quell all the tears, an acceptance to be found,

Liberty's love, with help from above, all safe, are heaven bound.

Refrain:

The lady in the harbor, she always waits so patiently,

Holding the torch so high, for the whole world to see.

Miss Liberty, her name, freedom she does represent,

All who see her there, a joy, no matter each descent.

In 1987 and 88 I wrote lyrics to two songs, one about my father and his uplifting me as with wings, the other how God has blessed our country. Both were stolen and made world famous. I received no recognition. These new song lyrics are dedicated to Liberty. My generosity lives. I hope all will enjoy. whonu
