Know Me For Who I Am

Know Me For Who I Am

In this World...We spend so much time trying to get someone else's attention...

We forget that we are here for a reason...Nothing else needs to get mentioned.

I was there...I sat right beside you...You didn't even know me.

I stood out clearly for who I was...But I guess you couldn't see.

Life is fleeting...In 10 years the landscape will all change...

Nothing ever stays the same...In a moment your life can re-arrange.

Know Me For Who I Am...Because...I try to get your attention and reach out to you...

Look at the World through more than the narrow vision that you see things through.

Time is not on either of our sides...

Do not doubt the Messenger. Do Not...Run or try to Hide.

I won't list my portfolio of reasons for why you should care what I say...

In two shakes of a rattler's tail...Everything could be gone anyway.

How far do I have to travel to make you see...

That you can run from yourself...but you will never outrun me.

I am the one you know...I quietly sit behind you at work...and at school...

I am a Nobody to you...You are busy trying to be way too cool.

But I stand here today...

Though you are oblivious to anything I might try to say.

Have you ever been to the desert and looked around...across the sand?

An empty place to be alone at...a hard place to survive alone...if you can.

I was there...Know Me For Who I Am. Know that I think I have the answer you seek.

Yes Me...A somewhat awkward and insightful Poetry Wielding Geek.

In the quiet of the lonely, hot desert wind...

I found what you would need most in life, my friend.

And it hit me...until I began to jump up and down and scream to the sky...

Why...did it take so long for me to get any answers....Why? Why? Why?

Have you been to the desert...and had your nostrils soak up the dry heat ?

Have you walked the desert alone...on just your own...while burning the soles of your feet ?

And perhaps along this journey you needed some water...or even something to eat...

While above you...a desert vulture....is looking at you like you're dead meat !

This is being alone....this is what path life can bring you when you're not seeing clear...

A generation of humans has also passed by here.

Yes....right where you are standing...

They came by...much like you...and were even more humble...and less demanding.

Know Me...I have been standing in the background among the shadows...

And I know only what those that stand observing in the shadows know.

I don't have to say a word...but I choose to share...

Be prepared to face the challenge...Press on...if you dare.

A message comes when it is time for you to think about it...

Let this one stay within you and never forget...never doubt it.

I have spoken...Yet...not one word is my own...

I am not one who needs credit for all that's known.

Can you grasp a word of Poetry...

Sent as a message...then Know Me...and Look and See.

Not a crazy metaphor...not a simple analogy...

The best of my writings...are still locked up deep inside me.

Give me a chance to write out some words for you...

For I have spoken...What else can I do ?

In a way....each word that I have to say...has come down to us through time...

Who is the One who decides what can be written down as a rhyme ?

Find an intellectual meandering path through some quiet library aisle...

And try for yourself to obtain such Poetic architecture and style.

This is my "Message in the Bottle"...This is the one that I pray you remember...

* "January through December...We had such a perfect year...then the flames became a dying ember." (*an old Ronnie Milsap song)

By now...you may be on verge of being thoroughly confused...

Perhaps it is all my fault...getting back into a groove...has got me thoroughly amused.

But Hey...if this doesn't make sense to you...I cannot help that fact...

Just know that I reached out to you...I did not turn my back.

Know Me For Who I Am...This is the point in time when I should make my final point clear...

And Ride off into the Sunset...with the guitar strumming...but I think this time...I'll stay a little while longer here.

You see to Rhyme and try to always have meaning can get dull...every now and then...

That's why I'll shoot straight with you for a minute...True Poetic Thoughts must speak clearly...from beginning to end.

Watch...as I try to make this whole thing come together and make sense...

Don't ever get confused...and think I have lost the ability to use the correct verb tense.

Know Me For Who I Am...Words come at you everyday...

I am one who likes to think...that Poems can be done in a "Manly" Way.

And have Sophisticated Humor...and some Quiet "Stealth" Intelligence...

Even if...it takes several lines for a Rhyming Poem to start to make sense.

Life is Amazing, Weird, and Wild...So why not enjoy the ride...!?

Sometimes I cannot hold back Poeticable thoughts...and believe me I have tried.

Rhyming goes on and on inside me...until I just need to shut it down and call it a day...

Still there's nothing wrong with Rhyming thoughts...that are "Manly" by what they portray.

Look into the thoughts of your own...and see if you can make them rhyme...

Then...you'll see for yourself...that this "ManlyPoetryMan"...has not lost his mind.

For I am someone who likes to mix up jumbling sentences...and then polish the

the rough edges out...with a thrill...

I like to zig-zag back and forth...like traversing moguls...speeding across each sentence and flying down hill !

You say..."It doesn't make much sense"...

But I must interject...that is only conjecture and pretense.

For...it really is taking a gamble...

To reach 1250 Word Count (Per HubPages Suggestion)...on a Poem and not ramble.

I guess that the higher meaning to it all...or what I might be trying to say...

Is that you can learn a lot about yourself on a Journey...Even through Poet-tray.

It is not really up to us to figure everything out...If you are a "Believer" such as I...

What difference does any of this make...We are all out'ta here when we die.

Be ready to explore the road you are on...even if you have to stop to see...in a traffic jamb...

Oh...By the way...don't think for a minute...I ain't gon'na shout: "Who gives a damn!"

You see...I am working to get the Poems pushed back on to paper (or Computer)...back to where they belong...

Instead of swimming around in my Kooky Brain...that's just all wrong.

I choose to write...To peer out to the Horizon...and create Poetic Art...using a few choice words...

I choose to fly...though my feet are stuck on the ground...my Spirit flies free with all the birds.

It is not so difficult....if you begin to know where I am coming at...

Years...have taught me how to get back up after being thrown from a horse and lying flat.

Do you want to know the answer to everything here that I put together...in a very short time ?

That's not up to me to show you a conclusion....it's got'ta be in here...somewhere...in a Poetry line.

It Was Almost Like a Song (Lyrics) -Ronnie Milsap-1977

Once in every life Someone comes along And you came to me It was almost like a song You were in my arms Right where you belong And we were so in love It was almost like a song January through December We had such a perfect year Then the flame became a dying ember All at once you weren't here Now my broken heart Cries for you each night And It's almost like a song But it's much too sad to write Now my broken heart Cries for you each night And It's almost like a song But it's much too sad to write It's too sad to write

Thank You...Thank You, Ladies and Gentlemen! (I'll be here all week...)

Thank you, greg cain...I enjoyed the piece I read from your works...and most definitely like the song by Ronnie Milsap: "Smoky Mountain Rain"...Great Old (70's) Country Music!

greg cain from Moscow, Idaho, USA on August 24, 2021:

One of my all-time favorite songs is a song by Ronnie Milsap: "It Was Almost Like A Song." I think it's possible, ManlyPoetryMan, we are kindred spirits. You write to rhyme, but you also write to mean, to convey, to communicate. I am betting you'd also be a fan of Smoky Mountain Rain, another Milsap song. Nice piece of poetry. Bring it back, my friend, bring it back.

Thank you to all who came by to visit this Poem and for those that have left their gracious comments.

Oh yeah...Misbah Sheikh...Been here a while and also, took a very long break...but I just can't get the Poetry stuff out of my head !

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on August 24, 2021:

You have scribbled it in a very outstanding way. I enjoyed reading it. Well done! I can never think of writing a 1250 words poetry. Lol! But I have to admit that you did it well.

I like this message in there: "Nothing ever stays the same...In a moment your life can re-arrange"

I just saw your profile, and it looks like that you have been here for a long time, but you may have returned after a break.

Thanks for sharing!

Blessings to you!!

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on August 24, 2021:

This is quite an epic piece of rhyming poetry. You proved that it can be done to please HubPages recommended word count. Very well done.

Peg Cole from North Dallas, Texas on August 24, 2021:

Loved the imagery in your poem and the subtle message(s). Nicely done.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on August 23, 2021:

It's a whirlwind, but it has it's moments.

No need for poems to meet that word count.
