On a stretched highway

with only one lane

where I can swallow

all the oncoming cars

the fading sky brightens

to peach, purple, pink

sliced sunset in shades

dark mountains for days

my mouth opens wide

no one is driving

in those old cars

metal filled ammunition rolls

all along the dashboards

filling my intrepid mouth

with salty perpetual dread

tasting the gritty dust

we all will become
