Just a Neglected Practice of Feeling Good: A Rhyme With Food for Thought
Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.
The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.
-- Victor Hugo
We spent years being shaped into decent kids
and it's truly amazing how much we understood
we learned what God allows and what He forbids
but that did not mean a practice of our feeling good.
Then we went to school to learn a lot of useless crap
so now we certainly know much more than we should
but that one responsibility no one dumped on our lap
I mean to prioritize important practice of feeling good.
Like suitcases with many labels we were sent on life trip
being spouses, parents, and whatever else we could
and in all those life roles we got more-less a grip
except in that neglected practice to feel good.
We also became patriots with passion
never to change anything in all likelihood
we shouted some slogans being in fashion
but none of that meaning practice to feel good.
And now we pay for our shrink's kids education
just dreaming to attain that superhuman mood
wallowing in this or that negative fixation
for we never practiced feeling good.
Does it become too late at any one point?
Of course, it doesn't -- knock on the wood
we never have to resort to booze or a joint
it's just a practice -- the one of feeling good.
