Sunrise work; daytime work; I'm destined to work
No rest to speak of, just stay awake, get me this,
Get me that; and I'm to be happy never getting a perk.
I'm a common housewife, that's all. Not a miss.
He courted me day into the night, I never dreamed
That all he was up to was cook, wash clothes,
Take the kids to school, oh, he wove such schemes.
All a housewife does is work, smile, and forget her woes.
Day in, day out. Hal, today's my birthday!
Yes, you look great, and do I look great?
Want to take a weekend with me and go away?
Oh, work, more work to do, and yes, I'm late.
Dear, I sure wish that you would give me some time
To tell you how I feel, think, and live like I do.
Sure, I can rest, what? More work! Dear: here's a dime!
Work here, work there, why do I do what I do?
I'm a super housewife, yes, sir, that's what I am
Proud, proper, and covered with grace.
Many times, I'm not woman, but a sacrificial lamb.
Yes, I'm a rugged housewife, I'm losing the race.
Sundown, kids put down, and Hal, why the snore?
I know you work eight hours a day, yes you do!
Me? I worked 18, no make that 20, or more.
I'm a proud housewife, I love you, Hal,
But darling, you do not have a clue!
