Poetry Time

When my grip on patience loosens
It's the time to write poetry
When nights begin tormenting too long
It's the time to write poetry
When smiles throw a spell to the heart
It's the time to write poetry
When flowers apply fragrance on the mind
It's the time to write poetry
When a breeze slaps the cheeks mildly
It's the time to write poetry
When clouds go on chortling in the sky
It's the time to write poetry
When the soil smells like a sandal wood
It's the time to write poetry
When someone steals dreams out of eyes
It's the time to write poetry
When leaves go on tossing and rolling
on the way
It's the time to write poetry
When eyes keep any secret from the beloved
It's the time to write poetry
When butterflies swarm the heart
all over
It's the time to write poetry
When stars twinkle and tingle the moments
It's the time to write poetry
When a dulcet voice rejoices each of the nerves
It's the time to write poetry
When a tour pulsates the moments go by
It's the time to write poetry
When there seems no end of ocean of woes
It's the time to write poetry
When the life never tires of whipping
day and night
It's the time to write poetry

Thank you Ruby, glad this poem touched you.

Yes, I agree 100%. Poetry calms like no other. Sometimes when I'm lying in bed a word won't leave me alone until I write it down. Good one Hari.

Thank you Brenda, you are right; a stray thought strikes our mind any time. We wonder at it and get our poem. I appreciate your kind and insightful comments.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on January 18, 2020:

Harish,

I can feel these reasons.

Whenever I am tossing and turning in bed I must get up and write poetry. Then I can sleep.

The thoughts seem to appear with most anything at anytime of day.

So I guess it is always time to write poetry.

That's what makes us who we are.. Great write.

Glad you liked it Chitrangada Sharan. It's true , a thought of poems may arise at any moment. I pondered over some fantastic moments that stimulate our senses in a special way. Hence this poem.

Thanks a lot for reading it and presenting your valuable comments.

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on April 12, 2019:

Very nice poem and beautifully expressed!

As they say, spring is the season, that gives you the reason—-.

For me, the poetic thoughts can occur anytime. I usually write them roughly, on my computer, and make changes, as and when I get time.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem!

Ha ha ... Eric , there is time to publish the poem you 've in hand now , and about which you 've spoken too. The poem is written , spoken of , and now about to be published by you. Looking forward to read it. Thanks for your visit to the hub , and for beautiful comments.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on April 11, 2019:

Harish what struck me on this is a poem I am still writing. It is time to write poetry. But you did not say "time to publish poetry".

My son is doing a project on Astronauts. I whipped out a ten liner. He responded "you just made that up".

So I suppose there is also a time to "speak" poetry.
