It's Never Too Late: Inspirational Poem

Writing poetry is an alternative form of self-expression for Audrey. " It's how I release my deepest thoughts and emotions."

Start Each Day With a Smile

Start the day with a smile to set the tone for the rest of the day.

Start the day with a smile to set the tone for the rest of the day.

We Can Change Our Ways

We can change our life for the better regardless of our age or mistakes we've made in the past. Here's the key: To obtain different results, make different choices. A good way to start is with our inner dialogue Negative thinking is destructive, so replace those dark thoughts immediately with constructive ones.

As a child, I grew up in poverty. But I didn't know my family was poor. We played, laughed, and sang songs together. We took trips to the mountains in an old car with bald tires. On Sundays, our father made fruit salad and we waited all week to taste the array of flavors. A real treat! I learned the meaning of gratitude and it remains with me today.

Maybe circumstances can't be changed, but the way we view them can. There is always a way to make the world a little better by showing more love to others through a service, a smile, or a kind word.

Relish Each Moment

Snowed in...but shoveled my way out.

Snowed in...but shoveled my way out.

It's Never Too Late

It’s never too late

To start a new day

To relish each moment

To carve a new way

To say “I forgive you”

To let it all go

To love one another

To learn and to grow

It’s never too late

To lend a kind hand

To someone in need

Who feels he’s been banned

To dry falling tears

Or comfort a heart

To strengthen the weak

When their worlds torn apart

It’s never too late

To sing a new song

To smile through the tears

When things do go wrong

So stay on your journey

And fill up your plate

Just keep on believing

It’s never too late.

Comfort a Broken Heart

Welcome back. You've brought a smile to my heart. So nice to know that you love my poem. I hope you're well and being safe during these difficult times.

Blessings to you, Brenda.

I reread this one again.

It is timeless in nature...i love it so.

It is never too late.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on July 24, 2020:

How kind you are! I'm so sorry that you've had such rough times and even more sorry that some people have taken it on themselves to act as a judge and jury. Shame on them!

I can tell that you are a good man. Have you thought about writing a book about being imprisoned...how you survived, etc? You never know how many young people might be affected by your personal story, for the good.

God bless you and thank you.

Hi Cristine

I'm so happy to "see" you here and thank you kindly for your nice comments. We all need a little inspiration now and then. That includes me.

Blessings to you, Cristine and be safe.

I'm sure most of us feel just the same as you. Deep inside, we want to be a better person. An admirable quality. Thank you, my friend.

Thank you for your kind comments and the story you've shared. I agree with your opinion....to listen to each other, to forgive and to move on. You have a bright future ahead because of your positive attitude and wisdom. Thank you, for being here.

Lucy Brian on February 17, 2020:

What a beautiful poem! You have beautifully depicted the idea of being a good person. This has inspired me a lot, especially being a teenager I can understand how much it is difficult to manage everything in your life, you go through different phases, hardships, break ups, career and what not, but in the end the most important thing is how was your character and how these ups and downs have groomed you to be a better person.

In my opinion, I think we should give everyone some space, we should understand each other and most importantly we should listen to each other, before it's too late. It's not easy to forgive and to move on.

Love, Lucy.

Rajan Singh Jolly from From Mumbai, presently in Jalandhar, INDIA. on February 05, 2020:

Hi Ann

I picture you walking along the seafront and wishing I were there to enjoy such a beautiful experience. Acknowledging others with a pleasant "hello" is a kind gesture...good for you!

Ann Carr from SW England on January 09, 2020:

Beautiful! You've said it all, Audrey.

I walk along the seafront almost every day and each time I say hello to as many others as possible. Most reciprocate or at least smile and that butterfly effect is good!

Devika Primic on January 04, 2020:

This poem is definitely at the right time for inspiration. Helping the homeless is one of my values. I live in the moment and enjoy what I have I am happy and a positive person. I think that in this year one has to do for themselves to improve or progress on what they want from life. True words from a talented writer.

Hi Liz

The message from the Archbishop of Canterbury is one that has crossed my mind this week. It's all too common to get caught up in the many demands of daily living and lose contact with others.

Thanks for sharing this important reminder.

Thank you, dear Peggy. I like the sound of "2020" as there's a certain positive ring to these numbers when I repeat them. Somehow I feel empowered.

I hope this New Year brings you laughter, peace, and prosperity.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on January 01, 2020:

Dear Ruby,

It's very difficult to "smile through your tears", especially in our case where we both miss our sons so much. I try to steer my thoughts about my boy to some funny experience we shared together. This helps - sometimes.

I wish you less pain in this New Year. Sending love and big hugs.

This is an inspirational poem for this time of year. In the UK, the Archbishop of Canterbury has given a New Year message in which he suggests we should all be contacting others that we don't get on with to build bridges and promote unity.
