It Will Last a Lifetime, If You Handle Them With Care (Poem)

Chitrangada loves to express her moods and emotions, through her poems. Most of her poems are free style and spontaneous with Nature at core

Quotes

“Whenever you’re in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude.”

– William James

Relationships are tender and fragile, just like flowers!

Relationships are tender and fragile, just like flowers!

Relationships are Tender and Delicate--Take Proper Care.

As Soft, as the flower's petals,

As fragile, as the beautiful glass,

As feeble, as the candle's flame,

As delicate, as the butterfly's wings,

As gentle, as the weaver's thread,

But if broken—,

These might even get repaired,

But nothing can repair the,

’Relationships,’

And If they are broken—,

All your efforts to mend them,

Can not hide the ugly tangles,

That can be easily visible.

Cherish the precious and beautiful,

‘Relationships,’

Preserve, and protect them,

As you would protect, your treasure,

For they are like flowers in a bouquet,

And must be handled With Care,

Sincerity, freedom, and space,

Mutual trust, and understanding,

Communication, and appreciation,

Follow these simple, but important keys,

And see your precious relationships,

Flourish with long lasting grace!

“People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges.”

— Joseph F. Newton Men

Chitrangada Sharan (author) from New Delhi, India on March 21, 2016:

You are absolutely true and I agree with your views. One must take care even with the closest of relationships. But unfortunately people learn this the harder way when it is already too late to mend.

Thank you Deb, for your valuable comments--always appreciated!

Deb Hirt from Stillwater, OK on March 20, 2016:

This is so, so true. Words said in a fit of pique can destroy what could have taken years to cultivate. You said this so well.

Chitrangada Sharan (author) from New Delhi, India on March 19, 2016:

Thank you Nell, for reading and commenting on this hub!

You are absolutely right that some relationships that unfortunately are broken cannot be mended. In fact it is the responsibility of both sides to maintain it.

We are responsible for our own behaviour and we have no control on how others behave. It is wise to move on if things do not improve/ mend in spite of our best efforts.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Thank you Missy Smith, for appreciating the poem! Glad you noticed the comparisons.

We all go through turbulent times with regard to some close relationships. And unfortunately if it is broken, it hurts and it hurts so much that it seems that everything is finished. We should all at least try to avoid such situations to arise. We should do everything we can to protect and preserve our relations with family and friends.

Thank you so much for your valuable comments!

Chitrangada Sharan (author) from New Delhi, India on March 18, 2016:

Thank you so much!

Chitrangada Sharan (author) from New Delhi, India on March 18, 2016:

Thank you MsDora, for your kind words of appreciation! And thanks for noticing the comparisons in the poem as well.

Most of us go through troubled relationships in our lives even with the closest of family and friends. Of course the responsibility lies with both sides to maintain cordial relations. At least we can do the best from our side to avoid strained relationships.

Thank you for reading and commenting!

Missy Smith from Florida on March 17, 2016:

Very nice poem. I like how you brought out how delicate a relationship is by flowers and butterflies and things such as these. If everyone could picture their relationship as this, and work on it together, maybe more relationships would last. Very pretty!!

Rachel L Alba from Every Day Cooking and Baking on March 17, 2016:

Thank you Venkatachari ji, for your wise words!

Your poem offered a perfect description of relationships, Chitrangada. The basic rules were also spot on. Thank you for sharing. Wonderful hub.

Dana Tate from LOS ANGELES on March 16, 2016:

And also, it is good to understand that once a person falls out of love with you, they are over you. This fact can be heartbreaking for the one who took someone's love for granted assuming that persons heart would never change. Unconditional love is valuable any person who has it has found their treasure on earth.
