I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.
It was only yesterday,
when the world was new,
when every color did shine.
when every love song,
brought a silver tear
and rainbows arched across the sky.
when you were mine,
memories that shimmer and shine,
nothing is the same,
since yesterday could not catch up to today.
Life goes on,
days of laughter and song,
isn’t it funny that way,
time keeps slipping away,
and love can even fade away.
Soon there are no more words to say,
a world turned topsy- turvy,
smiles become frowns
and it rains every day.
hiding the sun,
the heart wanting to fly,
to seek the love –
it misses every day.
the words of love still whisper,
while love songs play,
dancing beneath the moon so bright,
until the rosy glow of dawn.
things were all right,
the sun was in the sky
and soft breezes were blowing.
If it could only be,
that love and life don’t fade away,
that together we could stay,
until the end of our days,
stepping into paradise just you and me.
words of love would flow,
life so mellow and slow,
always they’ll remain in my memory,
because it was –

Beautiful expression of things that were but are still in our memories. Loved the Roy Orbison song, too. I wonder if he had a premonition of his untimely death when he wrote it.

Yes! “Only yesterday!” I love how you weave the phrase so beautifully. Nicely done!
