It Was Easy

I don’t have time to find
I can only hope to see
What I have in mind
Love in you
Love in me

When I look back in time
I didn’t have to think about it
I was of my own mind
You let me be me
For once I was

I never washed my hands
I take the responsibility
I believed in the tide
Knowing it would deny me

I felt I could always run
I didn’t wear a saddle
It was love without a gun
We were horses
Without riders or fences

No fighting in the temple
Just peace if we can be
If only love were so simple
It is for a hippie
Loving a gypsy

There was no baptism
But the water was pure
It will always be there
Just like a long memory
