I can't seem to stop writing poetry or reading poetry. I think it is safe to say I love poetry and I love sharing great poetry with others.
Introduction to "letters."
A few introductory Ottava Rima from my new collection titled "letters."
I found Auden prior to my son's birth
his collected poems a gift from my Mom
an experience full of lasting worth
a meditation on producing calm
re examination of letters worth
a testimony or a private psalm.
An Ottava Rima to Lord Byron
to hear, from island, song of lost siren.
Among my sonnets wrote an Ottava
a letter to an artist I respect
written at coffee shops over java
an artful form who mastered the connect
an act that seems our desiderata
a dialogue who is forced to introspect.
Though iambs redundant with unwise rhyme
I stood back with pride for a short time.
So every April deep within routine
imagine letters from those I admire
to fill the pot with pre-emptive caffeine
prepare to write about two souls crossfire
to create my world from letter's daydream
including all the artists who inspire.
Or scientists in deep observation
philosophers working on causation.

Ann Carr from SW England on April 20, 2021:
I'd never heard of Ottava Rima. Thanks for the introduction, Jamie.
I like the references to classic poets and you've done a great job yourself!
