Writing Poetry With Right Ingredients

Ingredients for Poem

Welcome to the poetry kitchen

Get your cookware out, light up the stove and listen

This meal is going to be quite fun when we are though

Because every poetry cook may just add something new

So what are you waiting for? Let’s get going with the spices and words

Quilt or computer, doesn’t matter who finishes first

Here are the main ingredients you will need

So let’s cook up something special for poetry lovers to read

You will need a pound of imagination

To see what is unseen, it goes hand in hand with creation

You will need a pound of creativity

It makes no sense start this meal if you can’t see outside the box, plus a pinch of longevity

You will need 2 ounces of thick skin to handle being rejected

Plus half cup of humbleness, when your poetry meal gets selected

One squeeze of happy heart to bring colours to your meal

A pound of compassion, to make those words heal

The pot cannot be completed without adding 2 litres of observation

Seeing, love, life and understanding this mystic creation

A sprinkle of humour, to make a soul smile

A touch of tears, to release some fears my child

Did I forget to tell you to add half cup of compassion?

Make your poem borderless, reach every race, every nation

But the last ingredient you may not appreciate

You will need to add 2 ounces of hate

Hate for the word starvation

Which plagues many children across many nation

Hate for discrimination

Black, brown, gay or straight, all part of the earth’s station

Now, it doesn’t matter the order, pour the ingredients all in

Stir gently, with compassion and love

Make you poem a blessed one live heavens above

Dish out your meal and share it with the entire world

A tasty treat, packed with eternal words.
