In Shades of Dew
In shades of dew,
Down a trail of
Dark, slippery valleys,
With shadows so cloudy.
The cry went eerie,
Deep into dusk
And night of owls,
With a yearning
So true to the gods.
The first sound
Of soil on the casket,
So awful it hit
Causing a leap.
Sand so wet
Without grass on it,
Kept the darkest
Of all memories,
Fresh like milk.
He left it
A gap on the wall,
Felt by everyone
Never to be filled.
