In Beer Is Truth: A Political Poem
A Republican and a Democrat in a bar
buried hatchet after few rounds of beer
now hardly keeping their eyes open ajar
but still eager to make some points clear.
Republican tries to boast with Trump
but nothing of a value comes to mind
then with lips as if seized by a cramp
finally comes with best he could find.
"You know...hick...since Trump is the boss
my life is...hick...much, much better by far
with all his policing I finally got on my feet
as my bank..hick, has seized my new car."
His Democrat buddy, just for a little friendly tease
although drunk as the other but playful, crazy
these few words he managed to release
in a broken voice, slow and lazy:
"A difference between a president and your Trump,
and don't you dare to start any defensive racket"
here he pauses as if swallowing some big lump
"is like between a jacket and a straight jacket".
They shook hands on that, not knowing why
it just seemed like a pretty good thing to do
as to argue so drunk they wouldn't even try
for beer was good, and that only was true.
