I'm So Happy You Came, My Dear. An Offering to Patricia Scott

Wisdom of Rumi

"Let the Beauty we love, be what we do.

There are hundreds of ways,

To kneel and kiss the ground." -Rumi

A Free verse Sonnet

I’m so happy that You came, my Dear, so happy,

For I’m enchanted by the beauty of Your Heart.

Naked and alone I was, stripped of all pretensions,

And my tears flowed like heavy rain.

But You kissed my breath with the arrow of Love;

A river of Light flowed through my veins.

O my sweet, sweet, Beloved One;

O my Rhapsody of Delight!

You came, where I lay on a razor of darkness;

Flooded my being with Thy breathless Peace.

A symphony of sounds now take hold;

A silent rapture engages my soul.

I ascend, like the Phoenix, to perennial heights;

My Joy floats and sings upon the wind.

I Lie Hidden in the Scent of ALL

The sun never says to the cosmos:

“I need only the moon today.”

It lights up the sky.

Let us all dream of the impossible, have hope.

I know I am only a single candle,

But I wish to burn with the joy of a zillion Hearts.

I am a flower garden.

Do not say I am a vermillion rose,

Or sweet-scented lavender,

Rather that I lie hidden in the scent of ALL.

How can we separate ice from water,

Or the branches from the tree?

Listen… when the flow of the mind is halted,

The joy of the Spirit speaks in silence.

Know that the melody of its orchestra,

Is far greater than the note of a single flute,

Yet they all need each other,

For the harmonious symphony of Love.
