I'm Not From There Anymore

Don't tell me where to look
Your eyes bleed too much
Mine aren't yours to keep
Who taught yours to weep?

You saw me look at you
You felt the power of lust
Still you can’t believe
Would another man leave?

I wasn’t the one who did it to you
Somebody else got to me too
The dirty work's already been done
Don't talk about where we’re from

Nobody saw your soul before
Now that it stands naked
You want my eyes only for you
Why do you think I can’t be true?

You said a man only wants insecurity
That he can’t take a woman’s strength
But don’t tell me how strong you are
Unless you’re ready for another war

I wasn’t the one who did it to you
Somebody else got to me too
The dirty work's already been done
Don’t talk about where we’re from

That's a well-written and lovely poem to read. The words are beautiful.
